Considering across the world cruelty to animals is far more commonly accepted as a matter of course than rejected as immoral, attempts at banning is certainly mere representation of the sensibility of some people.

In many places around the world raping children and calling it “marriage” is accepted.

Here we can make a persuasive case that child protection benefits the society in general so enough people think they have enough skin in the game to put up with any inconvenience or imposition.  It is clearly not persuasive to major section of even our society that outlawing declawing of cats benefits the society so they would willingly put up with the inconvenience and imposition.

I had my cat declawed. No I am not sorry.

There are tons of other surgeries on cats and dogs that are preventive and invasive. I am sick of this shit attitude that doing such means that the cat is not put under for it. I would agree if nothing knocked the pet out to get through it. But I really don't want to hear shit. My cat was declawed, I am not ashamed to say I did it, and my best friend follows me around like a loyal dog, which most cats do not.

If you want to really get pissed at cat owners, get pissed at the ones who leave them outdoors even with claws. My cat was put under when he was declawed, but since I keep him indoors, he wont get run over by cars, or get infections getting into fights with other wild animals.

My cat picked me. And at the time he was neutered. FYI spaying or neutering a dog or cat PREVENTS feral strays.

If someone STUPIDLY WANTS to forget that knocking a cat or dog out requires knocking them out, and recovery in which both will be groggy and in pain, then please be consistent in demanding neither cats or dogs get spayed or neutered.

My declawed cat got over his surgery in days, just like a dog with his balls cut off wont remember that.

I do know that I don't have to worry about my cat spawning a litter I cant afford. I do know that my cat wont get run over by a car either.

My cat is my best friend. But yes, I AM GLAD I GOT HIM DECLAWED.

Maybe I am misremembering but didn't you lose your cat for a time during the hurricane trip?  

Your declawed cat got away from you...it happens.  You say your cat won't get hit by a car...is that because there is no possible way ever that the cat can get out?  Obviously that's not the case as your cat did get away from you.  It could happen that your cat gets away again and you have reduced his chances of survival by having him declawed if he were to encounter another animal.
