Are you happy where you live?

Central Valley, California?

Eastern Ventura County. Though up until a few (17) years ago, I lived in LA for about 26 years.

RE: Are you happy where you live?
What a timely question. The King and I got home from an almost three month long job at the beach, just before dawn Friday. Slept all day, been unloading and unpacking ever since. Finally went for the first major grocery store run this afternoon. Rattled my teeth on all the potholes in the just over a mile to the store and then the first thing I saw in front of Food Lion was the town skanky whore in a tight lacy top. She looks like she is over 40. She is overweight and looks like she was ridden hard and put up wet. The negligee style top showed every roll, sag and nipple. Apparently she got a “taker” by the time I could get to the door, since she got in a car. Then by the time I finished grocery shopping she was back out front again.

Am I happy where I live? Oh hell no.
Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket?

I've lived a lot of different places, including Japan for 18 months when I was in the service. I like Japan, but I've been pretty happy wherever I lived. I'm currently living (and have lived for a long time) in the heart of South Carolina and I have some excellent friends, a POSSLQ who came with her own dog, and a meh job that at least pays okay and has decent benefits, compared to the labor and retail jobs I fell into after serving and before getting on with a big company in SC. It's the relationships the matter, IMHO. If your necessities are met and you've got mates to hang out with and someone who will help you move for pizza and beer, life is pretty good.

RE: Are you happy where you live?
It was 13 years ago today that we arrived in north Texas from SC (which I detested for 20 years - sorry Mr. Agenda). I like our house and the little town we live in. I like that we are near Dallas but not in Dallas. Being quite an introvert, I could probably live just about anywhere as long as the things I need are close at hand. But this heatwave we are experiencing is kicking my butt. We are into at least day 10 of triple digit heat and 'are you shittin' me?' heat index numbers. I try to remember that I have seldom had to exert more effort than to sweep snow off the sidewalk after growing up in snowuptomybutt Iowa.

I may be going to Wisconsin for a few days next week to visit a friend and her father. The father is quite ill so it's kind of depending on how he is doing if I go or not. If I don't go, I may just drive north till it cools off and stay there - where ever there is - for a couple days.

NZs okay.

But public transport here sucks.

And they have silly laws about not hunting tourists during tourist season.
