World can be a very scary place if you refuse to know anything about science.

Actually science makes this world extremely scary.

Like I tried to explain: we are surrounded with science and complicated machines machines, so complete lack of knowledge about science and how it works makes people scared and they even create superstitious beliefs about it, like that HAARP is a weather changing machine that can also induce Earthquakes, volcano eruptions and floods.

The process of dying is scary, being dead isn't. You are either alive or dead, so 200 years ago I was not alive so I must have been dead... didn't hurt at all.

No, you're terrified.  In fact, you're so mind-numbingly, earth-shatteringly, brain-wobblingly terrified of death that you've manage to convince yourself that you're going to live forever.  You are unable to accept the idea that there is going to come a time when you'll no longer exist.  This is why you believe that the magic carpenter is going to take you to the fantasy land of Eternal Life.

The reasoning goes that 'if religious people believe in their eternal souls and reward in paradise, they should not fear anything on this earth except that which endangers their souls; therefore they are not afraid of things like Alzheimer's and death'. The problem with the reasoning is that is observably not the result. Arguably, belief in an afterlife produces more anxiety than not believing in one.

Yeah, you'll never make suicide bombers out of atheists because they value life too much.

But the thing is that atheists look upon death peacefully - as Isaac Asimov explained:

Since I am an atheist and do not believe that either God or Satan, Heaven or Hell, exists, I can only suppose that when I die, there will only be an eternity of nothingness to follow. After all, the Universe existed for 15 billion years before I was born and I (whatever “I “ may be) survived it all in nothingness.

People may well ask if this isn’t a bleak and hopeless belief. How can I live with the specter of nothingness hanging over my head?

I don’t find it a specter. There is nothing frightening about an eternal dreamless sleep. Surely it is better than eternal torment in Hell or eternal boredom in Heaven.

But, on the other hand, I've seen plenty of old people who were truly miserable in the last years of their lives solely because of their religious beliefs. People frightened that they'll go to hell that they would call the priest to apologize when they couldn't come to the mass that day because, up to that point, they went to church every day. Also obsessing other people with trivial deeds from their past that now haunted them because they thought that God would send them to hell on those accounts.

So stop with the BS.
