Evolution of Music from 1400 BC till the present day

I find a lot of the music around the period we're currently covering in this thread to be quite boring, with a few exceptions of course.

As far as I am concerned, my dad is (a retired) conductor and choir leader who has performed the Monteverdi vespers many times as a young man. One of my dearest possessions is his score with markings from his first performance. So I grew up with these sounds. Whenever I am in Venice, I try to visit his grave at the Frari basilica.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

And now, some familiar music by Vivaldi:

You can tell some elaborate story is being told through this music, no words uttered.

The famous Hallelujah song by Handel:

Who doesn't love this one?

I love it, but it's not even my favorite part of the Messiah. I particulary like "Comfort ye..."

May favorite Youtube Messiah is this one:

That was some impressive voice control by that singer in the first clip. Seems very hard to do what he did.

I'll give the second clip a listen later when I'm more free.

If you know anything about Vivaldi beyond "The Four Seasons," it's probably this piece, and here it is in an arrangement made specifically for one of the greatest shows on TV today, with Gabe Witcher of the Punch Brothers, and the Tony Berg Players (who appear to be a combination of the standard baroque string and continuo ensemble and an increasingly louder Irish session group):

It says video unavailable.

This next music on the clip gives me the chills. Bach was the man:

And in fact, several pieces of this music have clearly been used in video games such as Final Fantasy VI (especially during the final battle before Kefka). Clip for that down below.

Final Fantasy VI (Dancing Mad):

Recognize the bits borrowed from Bach's Toccata and Fugue?

Don't get me started with Bach or I'll never stop

And hence Alex K exploded and a Bach Bang was brought forth.

Next music on the list is another familiar one:

It certainly has that Italian feel to it.
