Mutations are constrained by chemistry, they can't be just anything and therefore can't be TOTALLY random. And natural selection is a de-randomizing process. In fact, when environmental conditions are stable, it is most likely to preserve the status quo, delaying or preventing speciation (though genetic drift would still be in play). I have a good layman's understanding of the modern synthesis of the theory of biological evolution and some familiarity with the ideas of the extended synthesis; and I've read a couple of Darwin's books so I believe that I have a good grasp of his initial proposals on the matter.

So, firstly, just finding a 'Piece of metal' in-situ would be a vrey rare thing. I know of one case where a largish asteroid survived impact and remaind reasonably accessable on the surface to which the local Inuit tribes litterally worked piece off with thier bare hands over time to thence make impements out of the stuff.

A piece of metal found of a different type would (Baring maybe a noble metal such as gold) therefore most probably be something already smelted out of original ore.

As for what 'Might come out of' a found piece of metal? A 'Scramasax' is far more likely to be fashioned than a car. Humans are rather inventive that way.

Now, back to our residently quoted Doctor.

I've a video explaining in detail how Dr Tour is simply wrong about his claims regarding abiogenesis.

Of course, others have previously explain the 'Why' about abiogenesys not actually being a part of the evolution theory... But, hey, what ever floats your boat.
