[Quranic Reflection]: Water came from space as NASA said
December 14, 2019 at 6:00 pm
(This post was last modified: December 14, 2019 at 6:04 pm by WinterHold.)
The origin of water on earth was not known. Humans as far as we know took water for granted as a product of earth itself.
But as NASA stated, the source of most of water in our planet came with commets and asteroids which collided with earth:
https://www.nasa.gov/specials/ocean-worlds/
Quote:Over billions of years, countless comets and asteroids have collided with Earth, enriching our planet with water. Chemical markers in the water of our oceans suggest that most of the water came from asteroids. Recent observations hint that ice, and possibly even liquid water, exists in the interiors of asteroids and comets.
But the fact was mentioned very early in history in the Quran:
Quote:Mufti Taqi Usmani
https://quran.com/43/11?translations=
Sura 43, The Quran:
(11) and the One who has sent down water from the sky in due measure. Then We have revived with it a dead town. In the same way, you will be brought forth (alive from the graves),
Note: the "One" is God.
In another verse:
Quote:Mufti Taqi Usmani
https://quran.com/23/18?translations=
Sura 23, The Quran:
(18) And We sent down water from the sky in due measure, then We lodged it in the earth, and of course, We are able to take it away.
Note: "we" is the Arabic way to call a very great thing; in the Quran that is God
NASA just asserted these ancient verses; water did indeed come from the skies, it does indeed have a limit -it can even be measured by modern humans-, and indeed it can go away.

Yeah Atlass, it is a mental disorder called Confirmation Bias.
People see all sorts of things in that kaleidoscope of words known as Koran: from flat Earth to dark matter, pulsars, gravitational waves... you name it and look at the verses in Koran and with the "right" interpretation it's there.
But it's never there in advance, before it is discovered to actually help scientists find the discovery
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Water from the sky is not the same as water from space. What the Quran appears to be describing is rain. You would have a better case if the verses read something like, 'And We sent down water from the furthest reaches of Heaven, from the realm where the stars abide. And We sent it in great rocks and heaps that came to the earth with a noise like thunder.'
Not impressed.

H and 2 O came from the tears of the magic crocodile that cradles Earth ever so lovingly between its jaws.

This thread is going to be no fun at all if you just blurt out the real answers like that.

Pigshit. Hydrogen and Oxygen are the two most common elements in the Universe. They bond readily and ice is found every-fucking-where.

The context of the verse is what made me incline to this interpretation.
For example, the context in this other verse points to rain:
Quote:Sura 42, The Quran:
https://quran.com/42/28?translations=
Sahih International
( 28 ) And it is He who sends down the rain after they had despaired and spreads His mercy. And He is the Protector, the Praiseworthy.
and
Quote:Sura 31, The Quran:
https://quran.com/31/34?translations=
Sahih International
(34) Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.
Also the Arabic literal word used here for the "water" is "الغيث" which is the rain.
But the literal word used in verses in the OP is just "water" which is "ماء"

Tell that to NASA; Sama. Even Venus has water vapor.

I'm sure there are things that holy books get right. It's just that they don't get everything right, unless maybe you interpret them loosely. Thing is, some enlightened god should be able to inform people without confusing them.

Most common reactive elements, but yeah ^^^ what this guy said ^^^.
Water is inevitable where hydrogen and gravity both exist in sufficient quantity.
