I eat well done ribeye with ranch sauce, now ask me if I give a fuck?
I put ketchup on my hot dog, so fuck Dirty Harry.
My Redeck friend Hillbilly atheist here, came to visit me once a few years ago where I live. Long before he visited he mentioned that he liked butter on steak. I have to admit I was taken aback by that. Never in my life had I ever considered butter on steak. Who am I to say? It is not my thing, but some people like it.
I also like well done steak drenched in ranch sauce.

If I am being a complete dick, the assholes who have hot dog joints who refuse to put Ketchup on a hot dog. If I had the money and time, I should start a hot dog joint where mustard is banned on hot dogs.
I won't do it of course, even if I had the money to. If I own a hot dog joint, and you wanted squid ink on it, and I served it, you are going to get squid ink on your dog if that is what you want.
I am no fan of clams or oysters or cabbage. But if I own a hot dog stand and know I could sell a cabbage dog or or oyster dog, I damned sure am going to sell it, even if I don't eat it myself.

If I like something that's it, why should I care if they don't like it?
They're supposed to be experts in their respective field, sort like someone educated in a natural science field of expertise or whatever education.
But IDK, seems like they're doing something anyone can get good at without much practice.
They may be experts in their field, but that makes no difference in what I like or dislike, an expert in making vinagar may say "this is the best vinagar in the world" but that won't change the fact that I don't like vinagar!

BINGO!
You hit the nail on the head!
With food, it does not matter about price or presentation, if you don't like it, it does not matter that others do like it. It is just food. I care only about liking it, not price or presentation.
One can only argue taste and presentation if it is something they like. But nobody is obligated to like something as if food is a script.
I hate anchovies, others like anchovies. I hate olives, but others like olives. I like pineapple on pizza, others hate it.
There is no right or wrong to food.
I just watched a food show in which a pizza joint put kiwi on their pizzas. It looks weird for sure, but knowing how I like pineapple on pizza myself, I saw that and looked at it willing to give it a try.

I like some food shows on cable. I don't remember which show I saw this on, but one hot dog joint puts peanut butter on their buns. I don't get it. But it sells, otherwise they would not do it.

Those who can, do.
Those who can’t, teach.
Those who can neither do nor teach, criticize.
How many film critics have ever made a film? How many food critics run successful restaurants?

Those who can, do.
Those who can’t, teach.
Those who can neither do nor teach, criticize.

Not the point.
You don't need to be President or even hold any public office to know what a fuck up Trump is.

In some Islamic countries it is illegal to eat in public during Ramadan, even if you are not Muslim. That is how stupid I think food critics are for the same reason. If you are into, or not into something, anything, even sports, fine. But don't demand others do or don't do things the way you like.
I like ketchup on hot dogs. I like hot dogs boiled and grilled. I hate sauerkraut. I can tolerate mustard on a hot dog, but prefer ketchup. You wont get me to eat sauerkraut on a hot dog. Others like it, so if I owned a hotdog stand, while I wouldn't eat it myself, I'd be stupid not to offer it to people who do.

Food is an art form, as much as anything else, and there will be people who are passionate about it. Speaking of hot dogs, I find it funny that some people treat them like a pizza, by putting a bunch of toppings on it. Yeah, I put ketchup on mine. Maybe mayo, if there's no ketchup. I've seen mustard put on it. In my opinion, hot dogs are meant to be quick and simple. Not ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, ect. Although I do like onions, and have had them on a hot dog. That's not bad.
And here I am, being a food critic on hot dogs.
I'm not a big fan of steak. For a long time, I had mine medium well, or better, because I didn't like the idea of eating undercooked meat. Until someone shared their rare cooked steak with me, and it was fantastic....
I love food. I can be picky about what I like, but when I like something, I'm all over it. I enjoy it so much that it's hard not to become a fat slob from over eating.
