Vote Blue, no matter who
#31
RE: Vote Blue, no matter who
Dems have this habit of doling out appointments to republicans, "moderates" and far right wingers when they win, for fairness, or to build a coalition, or whatever misguided shit they have in mind. Republicans don't do this, because they aren't complete dipshits. It's worth thinking about when you decide to vote blue no matter who on the basis of something like picks for judges.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

RE: Vote Blue, no matter who
The Democrats take people for granted because they know a certain percentage of people have the mindset of "vote blue, no matter who". Joe Biden literally said, "I would consider a Republican as my running mate" but people seem to ignore things like that because... well... "Republicans are worse so we must ignore all of the bad stuff Democrats do".

When it was Barrack Obama helping the Saudis conduct their genocide in the Yemen nobody really seemed to care. But now Donald Trump is president... "shock, horror, genocide in the Yemen!" People seem to switch off whenever a Democrat inhabits the Oval Office.

I can only hope that if Bernie takes office, he won't be as nice to republicans or blue dog democrats as Obama was.

Good idea. No compromise, no coalition-building, no reaching across the aisle. Keep that divisiveness going as long and strong as you can. That’ll make things better for you.

He'd pretty much have to make friends with the gop. The dems already hate his guts. It's not like Hitlery was lying about him having no friends and being incapable of getting anything done.

If the other side isn't interested, then all that's going to happen is them pulling the democrats to the right. And Obama proved that this republican party isn't interested. Now maybe Bernie can get some voters to swing his way, but the politicians won't move to the left unless they're forced. So no, there shouldn't be anyone reaching across the ailse, except to drag someone to the left, or get someone to the left of them elected in their place.

He doesn't need to make friends with any establishment. He shouldn't. He can work from the bully pulpit. Any democrat that doesn't fall in line gets primaried, and if he has the voter support, he can get in new people that do like him. And if he gets a super majority, then hopefully he'll actually use it, unlike Obama, who wanted to make friends and compromise, when he didn't have to, because the dems had the potus, house, and senate. The only people he needs, are the voters. And we like him.

You can go with the grain, or against it. Vot for people with policy ideas you like, or just vote blue, no matter who.

How many times do Republicans 'reach across the isle' or compromise? Or, rather, what's the ratio of Republicans reaching across the isle when compared with Democrats? Why is it only people who aren't Republicans who should compromise? Republicans always fight Democrats. They never just 'roll over' and admit defeat at the first hurdle, like many Democrats do, do they?

Should people try and find a middle ground with people who think global warming is a Chinese hoax? Or with people who think building a big ol' wall is the solution to America's crime problem? For a lot of issues, one side is clearly wrong and another side is clearly right, and when one side is obviously wrong there should be no compromise. Why do people insist we need to negotiate with people who are determined to destroy all of human existence?
