NDEs of Hell
#41
RE: NDEs of Hell
I have very strange dreams too, often quite intense and highly detailed. But most people tell me they either don't dream, or their dreams are quite mundane. Sort of beside the point. People lie for dumb reasons all the time. I tend to lump in holy experiences with the like of alien abductions and bigfoot sightings, and I think people tend to exaggerate when they have experiences like that. A classic example is when a friend of mine claimed to have seen orbs floating in the woods... when another friend told his account of what happened it was guys on the other side of the forest with flashlights. People are full of shit. No reason to think NDEs are immune to this human nature.
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.

For the love of all that is squishy, please don't bother to re-hash it here. I was just having a shower thought the other day about NDEs, and I've never heard of someone having an NDE of hell. I mean, the obvious reason is obvious, but has anyone heard of someone claiming to have seen Satan or hell after dying for a bit? I don't care if you believe or don't believe in NDEs or why. I don't think any of us care to discuss it anymore. I just specifically want to talk about whether NDEs are all angels and light.

Growing-up in a fundamentalist evangelical Christian Church, I encountered NDEs about Hell, but, I have forgotten the book that I was given on the subject.

In short, like the Gospels, so much of the original source material has been embellished beyond recognition.

Certainly true when you hear second and third-hand accounts of the experiences. It becomes insane! My father once told me about a story he heard, on the 700 Club no less, LOL, of a young boy who saw hell in a NDE... Needless to say, my father's retelling was far more fantastical than the actual kid's account of what happened. He added in so many details and changed so many aspects of the story, probably unconsciously, because as humans, our memories are actually terribly unreliable, or maybe consciously, if he was trying to play it up to sound more impressive (knowing my dad, who knows which is true...)

Then, when I read the kid's story, that I barely remember now, to be honest, it sounded more like a weird fever dream than a trip to hell.... but hey, what do I know. LOL

Meanwhile, Paula White literally visited God’s Throne Room and saw his blurry face

Where the writers of New Testament any different than her?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Yes, and profoundly so, because they were writing down accounts told to them by others who had heard about them from others, who had gotten them from "who knows where".  And, in addition, those written accounts were copied and changed in the decades and centuries thereafter.

Maybe when it comes to Gospels, but anything after that is like this Trump's assistant. Like that crazy Paul who also claimed to have had visions and visited heaven. And then all those books afterwards written by who knows who.
