The Far Right in this country is on a rampage against any and all institutions that help organize progressives or mobilize people to vote. First, they took down Acorn. Now they're taking on the unions. They want to make it so only billionaires and corporations can afford to fund any candidate in the elections, and with the Citizen's United ruling, said billionaires and corporations can fund elections all they like.

Of course there is a difference, Being to the right doesn't imply anything about your social leanings, Right wing just tends to be smeared by fascist Christian conservatives.
