[Quranic Reflection]: dark energy and dark matter

( 12 )   And We have made the night and day two signs, and We erased the sign of the night and made the sign of the day visible that you may seek bounty from your Lord and may know the number of years and the account [of time]. And everything We have set out in detail.

This verse explicitly says that the night has hidden facts that were erased, or in other words "made invisible".

Science today did find out that the night does indeed carry invisible things, and it was called "dark energy" and "dark matter".

In my perspective, the cosmos -which is in constant night- carries lots of signs that are not visible; erased if I want to use the same language of the Quran.

That verse spoke about dark energy and matter.

And it ironically enough you who playing around with meanings not me .Night isn't simply darkness .

the part of every 24-hour period when it is dark because there is very little light from the sun:
Relates to planets and stars only not the general darkness of space

the time from dusk to dawn when no sunlight is visible
Unless space has a dusk and dawn it does not apply .Oh wait those things relate to a planet orbiting a star not simply the darkness of space

The period of darkness beginning at the end of evening  when the sun is 18 degrees below the horizon, and ending at the beginning of morning astronomical twilight
Again relates to planets orbiting stars

Night or nighttime (sp. night-time or night time) is the period of ambient darkness from sunset to sunrise in each twenty-four hours,[1] when the Sun is below the horizon. The exact time when night begins and ends (equally true with evening) depends on the location and varies throughout the year.[2] When night is considered as a period that which follows evening, it is usually considered to start around 9 pm and to last to about 4 am.[3] Night ends with coming of morning at sunrise.[4]

Same here

If it's not  in this context then the terms have no meaning .The darkness of deep or interplanetary space is no more night then starlight traveling through it is daytime .

Not to mention the fact night isn't just darkness it relates to the orbit of the earth around the sun or some other planet around some other star . The darkness of space is not the night  by any common definition .If we sent a space craft into deep space night and day would have no meaning as it only relates to stars and planets and their orbital relation .

Do you see what you're doing? you are playing around the word "night" to claim that "night" isn't "night".
Night is the period of the day with no sun. That's the known meaning.
No i'm no i'm putting night IN ITS PROPER CONTEXT !!!!
It's your who is making invalid conflations
Night is a period of darkness ON A PLANET or other body orbiting a star  and all the dictionary definitions and the pictures clearly freaking shows .THERE IS NO NIGHT IN SPACE THE TERM IS MEANINGLESS IN SPACE. NIGHT ISN'T SIMPLY DARKNESS ANY MORE THEN SIMPLY LIGHT IN SPACE IS DAY . THERE IS A CONTEXT YOUR IGNORING !!!!

Not night .Night and day are meaningless in space.

DAY AND NIGHT in the only meaningful context !!!
ON A PLANET ORBITING A STAR

And i'm not alone in pointing this out
Quote:That's because there is no day or night in space.
Day and night occur due to the spinning of the earth on its axis, making the sun appear to “rise” over the horizon, thus starting the “daytime”.
Only planets / moons have horizons (ie: space does not have a horizon), so you have to be on a planet to experience day / night. Thus there is no “day” to experience when in space.

That is the dumbest post-hoc bullshit rationalisations I have ever seen.

If the cockwomble magic book actually spoke of dark energy and matter, how come muslims have not been talking about it for centuries?

I can tell you why. Idiots like you look at modern science and try to retro-fit the stupid book into modern science.

You are an idiot.

No. Day is when the sun lights the place, night is when the sun is not there.
Here on earth; we are floating aboard a planet in space, sungula. When our star is not there; then it is night.

No need for arrows and very large pictures which are nothing but -excuse me- gymnastics around the fact I just stated.

No day is when on a  planet or other orbiting body turns on its Axis on it's orbit around a star .

Here earth is turning on it's axis and orbiting a star  .No Axis no orbit no day and night .Day and night have no meaning in space as night isn't simply darkness nor day simply light . There is an specific astronomical context to day and night which revolves around planets turning on their axis and orbiting a star. If we travelled though deep or interplanetary space there would be NO day or night .

There is because you clearly are getting the context .So far i shown overwhelming evidence for my position while all you have done is repeat your opinion and insist based on nothing that it's the common usage . You have stated no fact just your opinions to shoehorn modern science into your book .

Quote:We have day and night because the Earth rotates. It spins on its axis, which is an imaginary line passing through the North and South Poles. The Earth spins slowly all the time, but we don't feel any movement because it turns smoothly and at the same speed

Quote:Why Does Earth Have Day and Night?
While you don't feel it, Earth is spinning. Once every 24 hours Earth turns — or rotates on its axis — taking all of us with it. When we are on the side of Earth that is facing the Sun, we have daylight. As Earth continues its spin, we are moved to the side facing away from our Sun, and we have nighttime. If we were looking down on Earth from above the north pole, we could see that Earth rotates counterclockwise, and we would watch daylight and darkness sweeping across our globe from east to west.

Quote:Yes! All the planets in our solar system spin on their axes (so does our Sun!) and so they have day and night cycles. There are differences, however, in the length of day and night — the cycles are made even more complex by the tilt of a planet's axis and its rate of orbit. Some planets rotate faster than Earth and some rotate slower. Mars has a day and night cycle similar to Earth. Mars rotates on its axis once every 24.6 hours. Venus turns once on its axis every 243 Earth days (which is only slightly longer than it takes for Venus to go around the Sun!). Mercury's day and night cycle is more complex. Mercury rotates one-and-a-half times during each orbit around the Sun. Because of this, Mercury's day — from sunrise to sunrise — is 176 Earth days long. The larger planets spin much faster. Jupiter rotates once every 10 hours, Saturn spins once every 11 hours, and Neptune completes a rotation in 16 hours. Pluto, at the farthest reaches of our solar system, spins on its axis once every 6.4 days.

Quote:The change between day and night is caused by the rotation of the Earth on its axis. If the Earth did not rotate as it does, the day/night cycle would be very different or possibly even nonexistent. The changing lengths of days and nights depends on where you are on Earth and the time of year. Also, daylight hours are affected by the tilt of the Earth's axis and its path around the sun.

Yeah our star apparently vanishes at night  Hilarious

Hurr Durr !!! Night is simply darkness and day is simply light. So if i hide in my closet at 3pm it's night time in the closet because i can't see the sun.

No night and day is determined by  a planet turning on its axis while orbiting a star .It's day in your closet till the planet turns you idiot

It's apparently night in this cave and daytime outside it  Hilarious
