didnt want to necropost: what completing the law means.

RE: didnt want to necropost: what completing the law means.
If christians are willing to untether a good christian life with a good ethical life, then so be it. I see it as further evidence of their deteriorating cult.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It's like wondering if the Easter Bunny revises Santa's Naughty List before deciding who gets chocolate and who gets set on fire.

Which makes sin less about morality than one would think.

I think the point was that supporters of both slavery and the restriction of voting rights used biblical references to support their respective positions. Things like ‘God said it’s OK to enslave people’ and ‘Women are worth less than men, so we get to vote and they don’t.’

I don’t think it’s coincidental that as the influence of religion on a society grows weaker, equality and civil rights become more and more the norm.

Again slavery in the NT is a non issue when one follows the Law God set up. That is to treat the slave as yourself. in doing so the slave becomes a servant with a great working environment. there was no biblical precedence to chattel slavery rather that practice was outlawed by god.

The reason women could not vote again had nothing to do with the bible rather the scientific notion that they had diminished cognitivablities and could not comprehend all subjects nor should they have a say because it was not they who went to war it was not they who must accomplish infrastructure tasks it was not women who laid down life and limb for country.

God is simple the excuse lazy people use to blame anything besides their ancestors.

And yet southern slavers used the bible as justification and you don't need racism to enslave someone and how the fuck is that racism .
IN MOVIES YES and on the TV show roots right again! MONEY was the real reason, and TAXES COLLECTED was the real reason the northern states allowed it to go on. as it funded the federal government which allow the US to do thing like the Louisianian purchase. or buy Florida, or fund expeditions westward, to subsidize and build rail roads to put up telegraph poles to make trans state communication possible. No one then cared about slaves outside a hand full of bleeding heart abolitionist. not even Lincoln. He won based on the idea he would keep slavery going. not because god willed it because the country as a whole needed slaves then. Stop pretending people could not worship god without slaves. the morality of slavery was a non issue just like any other institutional belief. Do you need God's permission to have an abortion? can you find a passage or two where God killed some wicked little monster to justify your own abortion? but do you need it? same thing here. lazy people who dont know or care about history are looking for easy answers.. Rather than God made us do it. it was the social economic befit of this country, it shaped our landscape and defined who we were back then as well as who we are not. if not for the slave labor and the money generated by the slaves this o country would still potentially be 3 different countries.

And yet name one christian society before 19th century that allowed women to vote and didn't have a distinctive patriarchal   structure that tried to keep women out of politics and used religion as justification to keep them out .
[/quote] because again it was felt they had no skin in the game. no one was allow to vote unless the matters affected them directly. which is why only land owners could vote at first.

you don't seem to understand the implication here. you response makes no sense. do you need me to explain it to you

if ethics is an ever changing standard.. then how can you assume Christianity is the deteriorating if by practice our standards do not change? YOURS is the standard that is forever changing. how do you know it is always for the better?

None of this refutes my point so once again you write a wall of text in futility

If pigs had wings, maybe they'd fly.  Doing the wrong thing forever can never make it right.

if you honestly think this then this topic is out of your ability to comprehend and discuss. you probably read 2 lines and guess at the rest of what i had to say. sorry no i did not follow that old trope rather used it to flush out lazy people such as yourself.

Like it or not i showed slavery was a civil order that benefited the united states. not a biblical one suited God or the church..
