But your point is nevertheless well taken.  In general use, the only difference between a miracle and a curse is point of view.

I've always thought it was significant that when Satan wanted to make Job's life terrible, he took away everything Job had EXCEPT his wife.

Hey, it's a tough Job, but somebody's gotta do her.

Jesus turning water into wine because the wedding planner skimped and the crowd was thirsty. Splitting the Sea at least in favor of the Hebrews. But what about miracles in favor of no one? What if some of the Wedding crowd were 6 months sober and in AA? What if Muhammed flew across Arabia on a winged horse? Then the horse in flight shit, the shit fell and turd fell from the sky and knocked over a lamp, and burned a family up? I can think of a multitude of scenarios where the miracle was not a positive event. You?

Turning Lot's wife into a pillar of salt seems not to have been in her favor.

You could argue that the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah didn't benefit from their treatment.

The ten plagues of Egypt eventually got the Hebrews freed but weren't so great for the Egyptians. You'd think that a little teleportation would have been tidier all around.

And of course there's the time that God drowned the world. The Bible is replete with these exercises of divine power and whether you consider them miracles or curses is largely a matter of perspective and semantics.

The miracle of Fatima. Who did that benefit or punish exactly? Then why call it a miracle.

Or maybe anything which can't be explained away in layman's terms gets filed under "miracle". Dunno

What happened that day was the miracle of weather! Yeah, boring, I know.

The true miracle is how gullible theists persist in being despite the Age of Information in which we live.

It benefited the Church, whose coffers gullible believers continue to fill to this day. It benefited the Fatima souvenir merchants who peddle thousands of cheap portraits and miniature statues of the Virgin Mary to superstitious tourists each year.  Dodgy

Betcha that guy did not find it a positive experience...

And don't say "that's just a movie!".

I’ve never played ice hockey, but I wonder how the players on the US team felt about their victory over the Soviet Union at the 1980 Olympics being called ‘The Miracle On Ice’.

There had to be at least ONE player who thought to himself, ‘I’ve been playing this game since I was a little kid. I devote hours and hours every day to conditioning my body and honing my skills. My playing and practice has given sprains, broken bones, and chipped teeth, but I’ve never let that stop me. I study the tactics of the game, I listen to my coaches and my teammates,  and I try - every single day - to be to best hockey player I can possibly be and sweat blood in the process.

‘And now they’re calling this win a miracle. Thank you. Thank you so fucking much.’
