I dunno, he just came to mind

In your world I'm sure he did.

Zero recidivism rate. That works like a motherfucker.

You want to cut the murder rate? Enact strict contols on the ownership of guns. Make the same a privilege that a person will have to jump through high hoops to obtain and I'll guarantee the murder rate will go down.

That doesn't mean that I wouldn't mind seeing a few specific people whacked.

Easy, black man who was found innocent despite good evidence indicating guilt.  In agnodtico's little neo-nazi mind, black people are automatically guilty.

That’s just crazy talk. The only reason you’re suggesting it is that it works everywhere it’s been tried.

And if the rate doesn't go down how do we collect on that guarantee? How much of a drop will we see? What if at some point it goes back up? Do we collect then?

If I get a guarantee - I want specifics....

On the one hand, OJ is still the first example to come to my mind as well. Of course, Robert Durst and R. Kelly also come to mind and their cases are probably less likely to be contested.

If I get a guarantee - I want specifics....

1. If the rate doesn’t go down, you’ll get your guns back.

2. The most recent figures I can find on homicides by firearm (leaving out suicide and accidents) in the US is 4.46/100 000 population. Adopting either the Scandinavian or Oceania model of gun control should lower that to 0.5 or less. If it doesn’t, you get your guns back.

3. If the new rate returns to the old rate, you’ll get your guns back, plus a voucher for 1000 rounds of ammunition (calibre TBNL).

Specific enough?

*shrug* You can make it a million rounds of elk-seeking missiles if you like. You’ll never collect.
