Russia Bounty Issue is Indefensible

You would have to be living under a rock at this point to not know about the revelation that Vladimir Putin has offered bounties for the corpses of American soldiers to the Taliban.
American President Donald Trump has responded with - crickets.
Steve Schmidt, former campaign manager for John McCain trashes the orange turd here.
I have a hard time seeing how Trump can possibly be reelected after this. How can a current active duty military member or a former or retired member vote for Trump after this? If Trump wins reelection after this revelation, I will formally forsake my faith in humanity and the system of democracy. If the people of the USA are stupid enough to vote for Trump after this, this country forfeits its position as a world leader and becomes irrelevant.
I think I will welcome artificial intelligence replacing humanity on this planet as we will have proven ourselves unworthy.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

there aren’t enough seconds in the last 4 years to write about things trump did, and the republican base condoned, that are sufficiently indefensible such that each one of them would have sufficed to result in a firing squad for trump in any normal country that has renounced capital punishment.
this president overlooking foreign bounty on men of whom he is commander in chief is merely another exhibition of the fact when the chips are really down, those americans who are most sickening in groping the flag are also those who care the least fraction of a wit about the country they profess to love.

The latest 'defense' of this outrage is that people on the right are pointing the finger at Adam Schiff who, as the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, should have done something. Other than holding hearings on the matter (which would have been a monumentally bad idea), they don't say WHAT he should have done. Probably because - legally - he can do nothing. As far as I know, the Pentagon and the national security services work for Trump, not Schiff.

The buck has to stop somewhere. The chief executive officer of the government of the united states seems like a reasonable place. Whether a person hates or loves the current holder of the office, it remains an indisputable fact that the person in question does hold that office, and that we have expectations of anyone who holds it.
