There's a line from one of the Discworld novels where after Fred Colon laments his obsolescence (in one of his few intelligent moments) and CW St J de Nobbes tries to cheer him up by saying that "at least you're cleverer than Detritus" he says {paraphrase} "Yes, Nobby, I tell myself that every morning.
