I got a Stimulus check.

RE: I got a Stimulus check.
Around these parts there were 3 economic stimulus made in the spring, basically giving tax money to businesses that applied for it, to keep their employees paid, instead of leaving them to their own devices. I reckon these stimulus saved a lot of businesses, given the circumstances of Covid-19.

The fuckface insisted his name was printed on the check. "Economic Impact Payment, President Donald J. Trump".  it reads at the bottom.

I don’t know what the rules are in the US, but if you wait too long, the check may go stale (no longer be valid) after a period of time.

You should go ahead and deposit it, just don’t spend the money. If it turns out it was sent to you in error (highly unlikely as that is), you’ll have the means to pay it back. If it’s legit, you’ll still have the funds available to give to your friend.

Trust me, even if I did spend it, I have the money to pay them back. I just hate the hassle.

I mentioned in  a prior post that separate from Trump's bribe check, that I got a letter from my state tax,  that they were not sure that I was entitled to the $58 dollar refund check they sent me. The letter said that they were not sure if I was entitled to the $58 dollars, and their records showed that the check was not cashed, which I did.

I am not anti government. Not in the least, but I am as paranoid of my math with taxes as I am with turbulence when flying. I am being a worry wart most likely.

You’re not looking at it correctly. If you do nothing with the check and it goes stale, you could be out of pocket for the amount of the check if the government want their money back. If the check goes stale and they DON’T want their money back, you won’t have it to give your friend, unless you want to go into your own pocket.

Depositing the check covers all options, sitting on it doesn’t.

It should NOT get to this point. If the economic right was doing it right, then they should worry less about short term gains, and focus on long term planning. They should worry about livable wages, which would generate far more long term taxes than chasing cheap labor. They should pay livable wages so that less people prior to an emergency have to depend on government. They should worry less about corporate welfare and pay taxes to pay for emergencies like this.

It does no good to argue people need stimulus now. That part is true. The long term issue is how does society mitigate the need for such.

Christopher Hitchens got blasted for criticizing Mother Teresa, but he was right. She wasn't helping the poor, she was perpetuating poverty.

Corporate America seeks to grow, just like religion. And the best marketing both use is selling utopias, power is what drives both.

What?

The violin motif is what the rich hide behind, not the poor or middle class.

Jeff Bezos is not a victim, neither are the Walmart family.

And nobody is vilifying success for that matter. But if anyone thinks our current laws or tax codes don't suck the money up to the top, they are a fool.

Economic and political pluralism are always a far better bet than a one party closed state. But that does  not mean our current state of affairs as to whom has more power isn't lopsided.

It is NOT free money. Nothing  in life is free.

Taxes pay for everything. Even in our tax code if you make less than a certain amount you are less likely to pay income tax. But the thing is, even the poor pay taxes, every time they buy anything.

There is a stupid myth that taxes are are seperated. In reality, be it a tax on gas, or smokes or food, or property or anything. It is one giant pool, and when one budget gets short congress looks to cut/borrow from other budgets.

Military are paid for by taxes. Police are paid by taxes, fire stations are paid by taxes. But so are Social Security and Medicare. But between someone like Jeff Bezos who is worth 120 billion dollars, and a McDonalds fry cook, whom do you think would get hurt worse by raising taxes?

I don't need a job right now. But I have spent most of my life in low wage jobs. And my mother, while she helped me out, never would have let me drain her. The poor DON'T want free anything. And I am not speaking for myself, but for all those I have worked with and seen struggle. What they want is stability.

Taxes are NOT free. The only argument is what we spend them on. But for anyone to argue the poor don't pay taxes is bullshit. Everything one buys has a tax on it. That means even the poor pay taxes.
Yes, I understand that very well as a taxpayer. I was being sarcastic.

RE: I got a Stimulus check.
Cash the damn check.

It may be included as income on your taxes next year, not 100% sure on that, but the tax on $1,200.00 isn't going to kill you.

Just sign it and do what you will with it. This isn't life or death. It's not rocket science. Cash the damn check. Buy something you want or need around the house, go to the dentist, donate it, put it in a secret stash box under your bed, burn it, buy a new lawn mower cover...FFS.

Jesus F Christ you are such a miserable, whiny weenie.
