I don't have direct access to that experience you had so ultimately I don't know what you saw exactly. I'm inclined to think maybe gravity or something caused it to move somewhat. I know the rubbish bags in my unit sometimes make noises as if there's something like a rat in them or something but when I go to check there's no such thing like that, so probably just gravity taking its toll on the rubbish inside.

Assuming you're describing the event accurately enough of course.

ETA: Maybe in your case, gravity isn't a good explanation, so replace gravity with something else that is physical yet invisible to our eyes. Maybe mild wind from, I don't know, air conditioner or some other source indoor?

(of an account) not necessarily true or reliable, because it is based on personal accounts rather than facts or research.

The ideomotor effect is a well establiehed and long studied phenomenon. Juet because you assume you're not, it doesn't automatically follow that you're not easily fooled.

Keep an eye, and a recording device, out in case it happens again. It might be something interesting that merits further investigation. We can probably offer more if we can see it for ourselves.

Asking most atheists about immaterial or supernatural things, is like asking a dog to meow. It's not in the personal landscape of possibilities or most of their definitions. There are a ton of imaginary possibilities. None give it any meaning though. Meaning is from the individual. Why a plate? Why only one witness? Why there, Why then? What does that mean to you? It could have been a Shinigami fart for all anyone knows. The question really isn't what made it happen, it's why did it happen and what does that mean to you?
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

If this was a one-off odd event, treat it as such. Just say "I don't know".

I know that I can be fooled by magicians. I know my senses can play tricks on me. Sometimes weird coincidences cause something strange to happen.

I doubt I'll infer gods, leprechauns, telekinesis or ghosts, though. First, it is a cognitive error to infer an imagined new cause when actual causes may suffice. For another, why the heck would some entity want to randomly move a saucer?

Okay, I have gone reading all over the answers to what you guys have said, I don't have a logical explanation to this either. I just can't make sense out of it that's all.
You say...it's something that effected my senses for me to see what I just saw and that....it's a confirmation bias. Fact is....if there is something wrong with my senses then there is something wrong with my parents too because we all saw the same thing. No air conditioner in the room, no monkey in the room either that's moving it. Thanks guys for your answers even one of them was sarcasm. Smile I appreciated your answers.

There could be explanations. If we go by your wishes and neglect that you could be making stuff up or have mental problems, someone could have been pulling a trick on you (you said there were other people). And you would have to give much more details in order for anyone to construct what really happened.

Or maybe someone inadvertantly kicked the table and you haven't noticed it but only noticed moving of the plate on the table. People have been kicking tables under strict supervision to fake they have telekinesis and got away with it, so why not by accident?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I think it's easy to see how the brain can be completely fooled, just look at people seeing things while hypnotised, apparently with just a few words, they imagine they are different people, can be made to believe they are in the outback while sat in a studio chair.. the list goes on.

I've seen people say they all see the same thing while others don't, check out the link I gave you for the miracle of the sun, hundreds were convinced they saw the sun dance around the sky, others didn't see the same thing. Clearly also the sun dancing round the sky would have been seen by observatories and populations in the same hemisphere (none did)

When i was about 11 at school some of the kids were all claiming they saw a paper moving from desk to desk in the classroom window, i looked and saw nothing at the same time as they were claiming it was moving. It was such a serious incident that some pupils had to seek help afterwards (unheard of back then). So i have seen what you describe in action, or rather seen people believe they see things while stood next to them.

Of course the plate could have moved, but there are literally hundreds of explanations, small vibrations perhaps.. the list is endless, why jump to supernatural sources ?

If it was a ferrous metal table I woyld suggest magnetic induction from your house wiring causing an electromotor effect.

If non-ferrous material - a subsonic sound of high amplitude inducing a sypathetic vibration in the table top.

In both cases - it causes the saucer to rise up off the top of the table at the peak of the sine - causing it to move "downhill".

These theories can be tested with a ball bearing. If it is placed on the table in the same spot as the saucer - it should roll in the same direction that the saucer moved.

Or it's aliens.

One or the other......
