It seems to me that the most accidental Christmas movies turn out to be LOTR movies. It's impossible to go through the holidays without seeing them on TV. I wonder why? Is it because they are such a fairytale that it reminds people about the fairytale of Jesus's birth, or is it because they originally played in cinemas around Christmas so people connect them with Christmas?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Well, last night, for the Deep Hurting Project (in the "Last Movie You Watched" thread), I watched While She Was Out. So, basically, it's a movie where Kim Basinger plays an abused housewife who does nothing but go to the mall to buy wrapping paper for Christmas, and then, 23 minutes in, she gets harrassed by a strangely multicultural gang (who are dumber than the Wet Bandits, and far more violent) and eventually becomes Jeff the Killer (seriously, even that creepypasta had more buildup for its protagonist becoming a killing machine). And it almost forgets about the fact that it's Christmas for about an hour. It's on Amazon Prime, and is apparently based on a short story that I haven't been able to find online.

Home Alone has become such an essential Christmas movie that it's time they make one with catholic priests

Here’s something I forgot was a Christmas movie until about half an hour ago:
Yes, it starts on December 20th. It barely even figures into the plot. There’s some occasional Christmas decorations up.
