From solar arrays and fuel cells to Earth-observing satellites, more efficient aircraft, climate models, and air/water/waste recycling systems, NASA’s contributions to Earth, environment, and green technologies continue today. With a new drive to build an energy-independent nation and reduce our impact on the environment, NASA can make immediate and significant contributions to our Earth-based challenges and at the same time, advance the Agency’s missions in science, aeronautics, and space exploration. They find themselves needing to come up with solutions for problems in space exploration - and those solutions keep turning out to be useful to us down here on planet earth... the mothership, if you will, lol.

While many historical figures had long since noted the reality of our sun/earth relationship. If I am remembering correctly, the Vatican, while secretly accepting the truth, did not officially make a public statement on the earth/sun relationship, until they were presented with the first photo from the moon looking at the earth.

Sounds like you have an issue with the vatican man, space and science are doing great on the climate front.

My guess is that Musk will "be very close to putting people on Mars" for as long as people are willing to throw money at him to hear him say that, and not a day after.

Prior to the advent of the interwebz, I had a subscription to NASA’s ‘Spin-off’ magazine. The amount of technologies developed for the space programme that immediately and directly benefit us ground-crawlers is astonishing.

This is NASA Persevere's destination: a 3.5-billion-year-old delta inside Jezero Crater. The landing ellipse is the smallest of any Mars lander EVER

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
