And here the stupid Jesus thinks that God feeds birds—he thinks that birds put no effort into hunting for berries, seeds, insects, fish. Needless to say, that is very wrong. Birds frequently must abandon some of their chicks because they don't have enough food for all, and sometimes they even eat their young and feed them to each other.

This must be another of Jesus' cannibalistic teachings.

If one really knew who the Lord Jesus, the Christ Is, one would think twice about unnecessarily, unwisely insulting Him.  In principle, we ought not even insult each other... so why do so?

The ground/earth and creation were cursed because of the severity of the event of the fall of Adam/man, the result of which was work to this present day. "In toil" and "in the sweat" of our faces, we eat of the ground all the days of our lives... until dust to dust (Genesis 3:17-20).

The Lord Jesus is the Word, and word/holy Bible unequivocally commands that human beings work:

"Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need." - Ephesians 4:28 and also in part "...If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat." - 2 Thessalonians 3:10

So, you are mistaken regarding the Lord Jesus' intent because the entire word (though it may not appear so to some), is harmonious.

The point of that sermon was that we should not preoccupy ourselves with the pursuit of the material, becoming consumed or anxious thereby because those things have an end. Rather, while pursuing those things for daily sustenance, we should focus on our individual reconciliation and relationship with the Almighty - things involving matters of faith, and not flesh which passes.

Hello Mercyvessel. Smile

Though I fear your posting will have me replying with the Coffee emote most of the time.

So, why do you think there is a diety?

Cheers.

The point is that the birds do preoccupy themselves with the pursuit of the material - food - and often fail and is normal for them to abandon their kids b/c they can not feed them. Birds eat probably more than any other animal (by looking at weight to quantity of food ratio).

Indeed, when you listen to Christians trying to rationalize Jesus' words as wise and smart, you see that they are suffering from "Being There" effect/ delusion. "Being There" is a novel and a movie starring Peter Sellers about a half-retarded gardener who talks nonsense, but everyone interprets them as profound because they start with the conclusion that the gardener is very smart, instead of actually listening to him.

So no wonder Mercyvessel post starts with these words:

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Indeed, seriously consider the lilies... the point being - have faith that GOD Is, and can, and does, and does not in His infinite wisdom and sovereignty, and "is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." - Hebrews 11:6

Not just words, but testimony!

Aw bless, diddums believes in the bad fanfic. Lad, if you truly knew your bible like you claim to do, you'd realise your god was simply a spoilt evil five year old given way too much power and way too many stimulants. Luckily for us he's as fictional as his Star Trek counterpart, Trelane.
