Joe dirt, a Hispanic neighbor story.

Joe dirt, a Hispanic neighbor story.
Those familiar with my posts over the years, know that my neighbors are Hispanic and landscapers, and even refurbished the exterior and interior of the house they live in.

Some times the family goes out for days, (I am assuming for long trips for contracts) and I don't see them for days.

So last week while they were gone, a dump truck dumped a load of dirt on their lawn. Then an hour later, another. Then another, and another and another. And again, I had not seen them the entire time.

Fast forward to last night, they finally show up. So today, they had a "Bobcat" type front loader bucket. Anyone familiar with construction knows what I am talking about. So today, they finally use it to spread the dirt they bought around.

Point being, is that just like their rebuilding the house, it seems that they are building a driveway.

I cant do a fraction to save my life. When people think of Tim "The Tool Man" "Taylor" from "Home Improvement" I have to laugh my ass off. This family is awesome, and I wish I had their skills.

Point being, I really do get pissed at assholes who shit on migrants. I couldn't do what they do.

I think I missed something in that story. What does your neighbours building a driveway have to do with how migrants are treated? I don’t get the connection.

Huh?

The GOP constantly vilifies migrants.

A more accurate statement would be Brian constantly vilifies the GOP.....

Ok, I’m still not getting it (probably my fault, I haven’t been sleeping well lately). You said the point of your story about the neighbours’ driveway was that you don’t like it when migrants are treated badly. I don’t get the connection.

Are your neighbours migrants? Have they been treated badly?

And rightly so.

Fucks News and the likes of Tucker Carlson and Hannity, but especially Trump, if you went by their logic, migrants are dragging down the quality of life in America.

We live in a nation where our OWN FBI has said that the biggest threat to our national security are not migrants, or Arab terrorism, but white nationalism.

I simply get pissed at the bigoted religious right. The Hispanic neighbors on both sides of my house have been nothing but good and decent.

I get tired of the claims from the far right white, "They are criminals, they are taking our jobs."

On an in person level, no. But on a political level the GOP does treat them like a cancer.  I live in a mostly white, but mixed neighborhood, rural, quiet, and low crime, I don't even remember any police reports in my 13 years living here. . But if one were to believe the GOP at the national scale, the fact minorities live next to me, must mean the same thing as blacks using the same bathrooms and water fountains.

My neighbors have not been treated badly by me for sure. But I am quite sure when they are outside our neighborhood while at work, or shopping there are dirty looks and insults. I do worry about some white bigoted asshole reporting them to get them deported.

Sheesh people, come on. All Brian is doing is simply expressing (clearly warranted) admiration for his hard-working, skilled, immigrant neighbors. You know, the same type of neighbors that that Trump called drug dealers, thieves and rapists.

The way immigrants from pretty much anywhere are treated in the US is a disgrace. I have an in-law who is of Asian descent who has lived in the US for 30+ years. Speaks English better than many, many American born people. But, you know, the kind whose eyes above the mask can result in some moronic Trumpite bigots to threaten her and spit on her assuming she's personally responsible for Covid. Why? Because the Dump that was Trump incited that kind of utter crap by calling Covid the "Kung-Flu" and "China Virus." He may have been dumped as president but his legacy of hatred proudly lives on. P.S. On top of everything else, she isn't even Chinese, but all these bigots see is slanted eyes.

Just read the last lines of the OP: "Point being, I really do get pissed at assholes who shit on migrants."

Cause that IS the point of the post.
Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket?

^^^^^^^ SO MUCH THIS.....

If anything, my neighbors would have every damned right to kick my ass, because I am very lazy with my lawn and upkeep. And on top of that, when I get sick I scream like a banshee and they don't know if they should knock on my door, or call the police.

I’m not arguing his point, I’m not getting the whole driveway connection. And I’m pretty sure his neighbours aren’t ‘migrants’.
