What do you mean if? We've known for a bit that covid can go airborne, and that it can linger on a surface, but it remains a fact that the primary method of transmission is exposure to respiratory droplets. That's what masks and social distancing and occupancy limits are for.

Well, in many cases, money is life. Especially at the time of this pandemic, when the expensive ventilators can save many people. Not to mention, poor people are much more likely to suffer from nutritional deficiencies. Believe it or not, for many people around the world today, the primary source of protein in their diet is wheat bread. And wheat bread does not contain lysine, the amino-acid necessary for the immune system to function.

I don't know if they work or not. If COVID-19 is primarily airborne, then, obviously, masks that are usually worn have no effect. If it is not, then the question gets very complicated (social sciences: how do people behave with masks). From the Danish study, we know they are less than 40% effective. And we know they are not more than 20% counter-productive. And that is all what rigorous science has to say, as far as I know.

I don't think that is true. After the lockdown has been removed in Texas, there hasn't been a spike in new cases.

And even if that were true, I don't think that would strongly suggest lockdowns work. People might get too excited and, for example, go to cinema more often than if there hasn't been a lockdown in the first place.
