Smoked Brats with honey barbecue sauce. These were better than expected. I've recently soured on Aldi's flavored sausages, but their Brats are fine. At $2.69 a six-pack, they're a bargain.

Chicken fries and blue cheese dressing. They had the virtue of being cheap. These were from Aldi. I wonder if Target's are any better.

It's the big girls grad party today. Put 16lbs of brisket on the smoker yesterday at sunset, beautiful sunny summer day in the pnw, all the windows open. Woke up this morning with hickory smoke all through the house and the slab at stall. Wrapped it, back into the smoker it went - should be ready to come off and rest in a cooler by noon. 12lbs of chicken marinating for the grill, three racks of ribs in a chili rub...smothered in apples and onions and brown sugar for the steamer. Fresh green beans and peppered bacon going in the crockpot, cornbread in the oven, potato salad chilling down in the fridge. A number of cakes and pies. Watermelons and pineapples and strawberries and bananas. Makers and Hefe to wash it all down.

It's gonna be a good day.
