the name of the company is innovative refrigeration... you seem confused. my patented project for me was a matter of course. it was an answer to a problem several other engineers asked me to look at and wanted to know how to solve several problems they were having trying to marry together 4 different technologies. Because at the time, a big home food distributor in nyc was given a grant to put 4 electric trucks on the road. the problem was with the then current tech the options was to run a diesel self contained system (small diesel engine powered everything) or a direct drive system (where a separate bracket system and compressor was mounted to the engine. but because the motor does not spin while the truck is not moving this would mean the product goes without refrigeration.
so the way the truck were being used was they go to a high rise apt and park and then a team of delivery guys would use the truck to load out the orders and they would be delivered to the various building throughout0.
the day. the truck would only be driven maybe 20 to 50 miles total but the refrigeration had to be active for a min of 8 hours, and they could not take power from the truck in any way.
So again i was a dealer for the refrigeration company (out of italy) approached to help solve this problem. at the time i was tasked to teach the yearly product up dates to the other dealers. (they tried to teach the class first couple of years but their teachers could speak english very well. and all the manuals were in Italian. I don't speak Italian but i can read the schematics, and by comparing existing drawings with the new stuff i was able to discern the changes that were made. and with the engineers help from Italy we were able to hammer out some basic manuals/they would translate crudely and i would put it into easy to understand terms like i do here concerning the bible and scripture.
we used this to update the existing dealers lead techs and to certify any new people the dealers sent to the 3week class. the refrigeration company introduced the all electric refrigeration system as a prototype and it then was being powered by what was called an "aura gen." it used some sort of nikola tesla (not elon musk tesla) generator that ran off the drive shaft to charge a bank of batteries and run the unit. I looked at all the schematics and was able to work out problem points. potential issues they would have with the system. I handed this over to the lead engineer at the refrigeration company and told the north american distributor "mr Z" the generator people were full of crap and what they had was a mess. and proceeded to tell them everything i saw wrong and how this would result in unit failures. I also pointed out weak points in the purposed refrigeration system. how if the two were to come together t would be a disaster.
after the school the lead engineer and MRZ the north american distributor sat me down in a room and told me this was a live project and explained everything that was going on. that they had a prototype at a military battery contractor, and the problem i projected were actually taking place with the prototype. I was asked to sit in an engineering meeting between the refrigeration guys and the battery guys. so i could do what i did with the school. because they had been at this several months and can seem to get this project off the ground.
i was to help the Italians to understand what the battery team wanted or needed and also and vice versa. so in the meeting the Italians were explaining the problems they had and like i did with the school i drew out electrical diagrams of the issue. and then listen to the american team and did the same. then while they were talking about where to go for lunch in about 15 mins, i essentially connected the dots. it was like i was watching everything come together. like the problem was being fed to me from an outside source while everyone was talking about hooters or ale house i scribbled out a solution, one not only would fix the problem but one i knew i could put together with surplus electrical parts from a place called sky sraft, it is a air force/nasa surplus retail store. in addition to a complete rewire for the electrical system in the refrigeration unit. so i drew it all out and asked the lead battery engineer if this would be a workable solution and shared it with the refrigeration guys. the original idea was to put it all into one self contained unit but there were too many components being added so i developed basically what came down to was the power management system.
everyone agreed somewhat this was possible but they were 3 months in trying to make what they had work. and to retool would put them over the dead line. so i said: (this was on a friday) i could have this running with surplus parts monday for 200.00 the battery company provided the batteries and inverters. (changing the battery 48 vdc to 220VAC 20 amp 3 phase.) and the refrigeration company provided the truck and refrigeration system (regular diesel truck not battery) and everything at my little shop sat morning. the owner of the battery company gave me 300 said the extra was for pizza i was going to need to order for those long nights i had ahead of me.
I left there at three and mr"z" followed me to sky craft. i got everything on my list and two m1 abrams diagnostic pelican cases. just high enough to fit four of the AGM batteries we needed into them, and the other clicked into place above the batteries and i used it to mount the power management parts. in addition to the inverters i included phase correction for incoming shore power, phase selection for out going unit power, a way to charge when plugged in a "fuel gauge" master power switch for dc, relays over loads, a series of plugs and connectors all different to Handel amp load out and so no one could cross plug the unit. and a few things that would protect the equipment heat and power loss. then added all the bits and bobs the refrigeration united needed to feed it's various inputs. then rewired the refrigeration unit to work with a battery only config. this was all done by 3 on saturday.
(i had put it together 100 different ways in my mind already and knew which was the best so the work went quick) but we had no way to really test it, as i did not have 3phase at my then shop.
so the plan was to get over to the battery company like at 6 plug it in charge the system and make adjustments. before the 9am meeting. we get there the same time the owner pulls up and he asks right off how'd we make out. i showed him everything and he asked did it work? i said it should. we haven't tested it yet as i don't have that power at the shop. so we plugged it in and it began to charge the batteries ( which were depleted from previous testing with the original config) what my power management system did was allow for the batteries to fully charge AND run the system albeit in a reduced capacity via a VSD. so before the batteries were even partially charged we turned on the refrigeration system and it fired up and ran. as the battery came up to charge my system put the excess power to the unit allowing to run full capacity. by the time for the meeting all the engineers were there and the unit was charged up enough to see if it would run on battery. so for the real test all one needed to do is shut power off to the power management box to see if the system shut down or kept running. so they did, and it did not skip a beat. it was like the switch was not doing anything. but we could clearly see the system shifting from shore power to batteries. then the question was how long will it run on the current batteries.
turns out two hours, out of the 8 needed. the plan was always to up grade the batteries which is why we were using the battery supplier/manufacturer to help with the system. they could provide an 4 hour battery given the data the unit was producing on the two hours it ran, affordably. so this is the innovative refrigeration part: i simply asked what temp did the customer require. they said 35*F which is like your fridge. the unit was configured like a -10*F blast freezer. i said if you give me a week and the parts i need i could cut energy consumption by half. so i provided the refrigeration people a list of parts.
now if you are the engineer you claim to be or even in a position to judge my work by the information i gave you.. in the last paragraph alone you know what i did to save or use 1/2 the power we were using.. in fact we went from a target of 8 hours to 12hrs on battery, using my refrigeration mods and tricks of the trade. even if you don't know them, you should be able to explain to me how i went from 4 to 8 hours just by working with the refrigeration system alone. no we did not touch the compressor not adjust the vfd. if you cant tell me what i did, then any/all you have to say on the matter is moot.
now prove you have the where with all to judge me.
