How many issues do they run a year, and how many anecdotes per issue do they contain?

The number would have to be large…..

Honestly, it’s a fruitless Avenue. We could imagine that for every shooting in the us there was also a successful gun defense. 1/1. A 50/50 chance of tragedy or salvation when a gun is involved. The actual numbers aren’t close, but with complete equivalence between them….it would still be a issue. If the brakes on a car failed -only- half the time..there would be a recall. It wouldn’t be legal to drive the things.

Well, gun owners have the most compelling interest in seeing out some future where we have sane and thorough policies regarding gun law and it’s enforcement.  

Fantasizing about good guys shooting bad guys is a losers bet.  Hoping that criminals lose gun fights is not a gun policy.  This silly shit is the basis of a case to criminalize possession, if this is the state of gun owning America.  If people have guns with a mind to kill another person - that’s a problem.

Most Americans, including most firearm owners agree that we are not on the right track. 

My approach is simple. Stop assuming when someone buys a firearm with no record at time of buy, that they are incapable of hurting themselves or others at time of purchase. That is not Orwellian thought or presumption of guilt anymore than giving a drivers test to someone looking for a drivers license. 

There are far more criteria for those who apply to become part of the police force and military before we ok someone in those positions. Our civilian requirements to own firearms are a joke by comparison.

I have posted numerous time a plan to require all "bad actors" to have a "NO GUNS" logo on their identification... But -- nobody seems to think that would have any effect.....

Why would it have any effect? Can’t they just buy a gun from you, bound as you are (you’ve argued) by no law or responsibility in transfer, with no way (you’ve argued) to maintain a db or know or enforce any laws?

You can predict human behavior to a high degree (were not as chaotic as we like to think we are), And plan around it accordingly to neutralize threats.

Because we have data that demonstrates as much. Are you under the impression that data doesn’t exist, or is inaccessible outside of the news medium? For someone who constantly accuses others of being too reliant on the news for their information, you are doing exactly that, right now, with regard to firearm stats. “If I don’t hear about it on the news how could I ever possibly know any facts about it?” You’re making yourself look foolish.

Hmm. An actual academic study was done by actual researchers using actual research methods and publishing in a REAL publication vs A bunch of anecdotes on a gun nut pop website. I feel like I'm discussing the flat earth or creationism with how lopsided the evidence is.

Yeah, and they were pretty generous with what they decided to allow as a defensive use. Not that they needed it. Not that it worked. They didn’t even try to adjudicate whether or not it was actually defensive.

Just that a person said they pulled a gun on somebody for some reason they thought was justified.

TLDR version, when you can grant every assumption a person uses to make some argument and it’s -still- clear that you’re dealing with a raging dumpster fire… that argument is less than wrong.
