Free will seems to be a magic "get out of jail free" card for you. If you can't explain something, then magically free will does. Please do expand on this and explain exactly how only free will can account for why some are more compassionate then others.

It makes a difference. Fact (factual) would be agreed on by everyone, religious, atheist or whateverist. I doubt even within your religion everyone would agree with your original 'factual' statement.
