Benevolent Creator God?

You might, I wouldn't.  Have you read it?  God gets up to some pretty nasty stuff.  I have trouble knowing what to do, or how to have a convo with a person who believes both that magic book is historically accurate, and that the character it describes is benevolent.  Two wildly false things there - and that's assuming that there is a benevolent god, even.
No one is forcing you to believe God is benevolent.

If he's not good, if he's not good for us, for me, then I wouldn't worship him or obey him.

Obviously, since I don't? No one forces anyone to believe as much...and yet, some people, in clear contradiction to the text of magic book, maintain that god is a good guy. To the point where our new friend here just assumed that this would be our conclusion if we believed the fairy tales.

Well, in a word...no. We can assume that there -is- a benevolent god just to satisfy a persons belief in it..but if we did assume that, an exploration of the god described in magic book would demonstrate that he aint the one. The god of magic book is the god of xenocide and ethnic cleansing. Of childsnatching and battlefield rape. A god of war in general. A god that loves the smell of napalm in the morning. A cattle counter with anger issues who'd have been more civilized if it were raised by wolves.

It's an evil god that promises to destroy it's enemies and spare -some- of it's friends, provided you keep it happy.

Like I said before, God is not "benevolent" since He doesn't go out of His way to be good, and doesn't treat everyone equally. But He does answer prayers.

Yours, maybe, but not mine. Add supernatural favoritism to the list, I guess?

He knows you don't believe in Him, which is His justification for not answering your prayers.

Or maybe it's just on account of how I don't ask him for stuff? Similar to how I wouldn't ask a convicted felon to get me something rare and expensive for free.

I have some idea of how it would go about it. Hell, if you asked the god of magic book for a lollipop - if the stories are to be believed...it would immediately search for some middle eastern child to murder and rob at my behest.

I have a thing against accepting gifts that are the proceeds of crime. If I wanted blood money, I'd do the shooting myself.

You should try not to be so courageous. Your life would be easier if you had faith in God.
