Rule of thumb - stay where you are - until they burn the place down around you - then run like hell and keep running.

There is a lot to be said for home field advantage...

No lube?

Huh

A guy once told me that blood and feces make a good lube. I'll take his word for that. He was obviously a bit on the strange side.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

I'm in good with the mole people and the reptilians who run the Illuminati, so, I'll be safe.

RE: Preppers
If you live in West of Nowhere, Nebraska, preparedness is a good idea but travel may not be necessary, I believe.

If you live in Atlanta, say, planning to stay during a catastrophe of more than a few day's duration will be difficult to survive; the wolves will be claiming what they need from everyone else and water and food will eventually be scarce.

Taking this and a prioritized list of requirements into initial consideration is a good start, I think.

Someone in my work got me into the idea of getting gold, silver, solar panels, tinned food.

I'm a worrier anyway so all of this appealed to me but then I realized if I did all this I'd just go around being worried that no catastrophic event is going to happen and I wasted all my money and time.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

There is a real reason.....

I'm curious, what's the real reason?

That is correct.

Lead was once used in powdered form (as lead acetate) as an artificial sweetener....frequently in wines.

And you thought saccarine was bad for you...

RE: Preppers
I wouldn't mind outfitting my house with a generator and maybe a few solar panels for backup in the event of power outage.

Need to up my food-gardening game a bit, though, as our garden is heavily biased towards ornamental perennials rather than anything edible. An all-seasons garden would be better, and there's a plan to convert the front porch into a greenhouse after I get some foundation work done on it.

And I keep meaning to sign up for archery lessons, too. (I know how to operate a bow but don't have formal training, nor do I currently own a compound bow.) Maybe this fall, now that pandemic restrictions have eased a bit.
