Should I stay or should I go? POLITICAL op/ed

Should I stay or should I go? POLITICAL op/ed
I think far too many on both sides of the political isle make foreign policy an either/or  or stay or go, and often too black and white.

I would say our current climate of US VS THEM, Republican vs Democrat on foreign policy has been too much, "Play world's police" vs " isolationism". There seems to unfortunately be two speeds for both parties, off and warp speed.

I think unfortunately and increasingly, politics has become too tribal. When people point out we have been in Afghanistan for 20 years and nothing really has changed, so why stay? It is forgotten by many that Russia tried to invade them too, and failed.

And it is a fallacy that Afghanistan is America's longest war. Nope. Technically America/South Korea and North Korea are in a cease fire. I think it would be nuts for America to leave South Korea.

I hate that humans are tribal. But not sure what Biden is doing is going to solve anything long term. I would say however, if Afghanistan were as much as military threat as say North Korea we'd stay there.

Do I have a solution? Yes, quite frankly I do. I could even solve the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Threaten any and all humans worldwide, that if they don't behave and stop fighting, force them to watch "Mama Mia".

But in all seriousness, I simply don't want to see Afghanistan regress back into a haven for their religious plotters.

Anyone got any ideas?

If you were President right now, would you stay or would you go?

It is just so depressing sometimes. I get that life is what it is. And I think most humans are tribal. But damn it. Can our species go one day one minute, without wanting to blow everything up?

The opportunity to defeat them is far greater now that the Taliban is out in the open and split among cities.

But the time for the clash has passed.  We're already gone.  Fly like an eagle.

There's going to be outrage about what the Taliban does to Afghani people.  Politics as usual.  It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you place the blame.

I am wondering if someone who just posted this is a fan of Steve Miller?

I get it though, it is a damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

The tribal warlords may fight, but the Afghan forces have nothing to fight for. They don't place a cultural value on a democratic government. They aren't willing to die for that.

The Taliban are going to be doing a lot of executions in a few weeks, and I heard that China and Russia want to be friends of the new regime.

Clearly time for the US to leave. Your presence there has produced nothing.

I only do 70's Miller, like Swingtown.  I don't do 80's Miller.  Mostly, I was talking about the Eagles.

I hope our Muslim members chime in about the brutality facilitated by US withdrawal.

The US had little to no business being in Afghanistan to begin with. At best this should have been no more than a 5 year incursion. Staying 20 years has more than likely made the backlash that much worse.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.
