There is apparently a limit to the number of SD cards of a given model that you can buy at one time.
And there's a story behind how I learned this: I've mentioned before that I like to stream music from a little WiFi streamer that takes SD cards. At the moment, I carry 5 64-gig SD cards' worth of music, and every so often, either one of the cards ends up breaking or they get close to the limit and it's time to add a new card and reorganise which card carries which music. And when that happens and we don't have any spares, Dad and I usually get three, one for the immediate problem at hand, one for the next time, and one for safety. Recently, I found that not only does it look like some of the cards are close to the limit, but two of the cards I already had were dangerously close to splitting in half. So, this time, I asked Dad to get five of them. And, fortunately, it looks like PNY's selling theirs for about $11 a pop on Amazon. So, Dad bought them, and they arrived today, but apparently three were of the
SDXC Flash Card model and two were of the
Elite-X model. This is apparently because there was some kind of restiction about how many of some model can be sold. Why this is the case, I don't know. Dad suspects there might be something to do with the special pricing.
Edit: Also, you know how the advertised capacity is higher than the actual capacity due to some weird overhead thing? Apparently, PNY reduced their advertised capacity so it's now dangerously close to the limit.
