70% of respondents in a 1954 Gallup poll agreed that comic books were at least partly to blame for teenage crime:
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Theodore Roosevelt was the only US President to have a verified tattoo. His political opponents tried to use it against him, claiming he was so vain that he had his family's coat of arms tattooed on his chest (an internet myth that persists to this day).
TR did indeed have a tattoo on his chest, but it was a 'gunpowder tattoo', the result of accidentally shooting himself in the chest at the age of 13.

The paperwork to create the Secret Service was on Abraham Lincoln’s desk, unsigned, the night he went with his wife to Ford’s Theater to see Our American Cousin.
