The motivation of MAGA

We're dealing with moronic, mindless, idiotic, dimwitted, asinine fucktards.

To an extend that might be true, but the research and polling has revealed that many of these people are well educated and solidly employed.  They may be foolish fucktards but ignorant and stupid they are not.

I think Nudger has it right, it's just plain old racism and for those Republicans who don't worship Trump but are hanging on, it makes them enablers.  Horrible leaders like Trump and DeSantis are not the cause but a symptom.  They made Trump, not the other way around.  I saw small groups of tea-baggers protesting during the Obama administration and their message was so vague that I had a difficult time understanding what it was they wanted.  It's pretty clear now.  A black president to them represented a complete takeover of their country by the enemy.  That's when the movement reached critical mass and the result was Trump.  Where it goes from here we don't know but I believe this is a very dangerous movement.

I forgot to mention that another finding from this study was that MAGA people believe that non-white people are currently getting better or more justice in society. I think that's hard to define specifically but in general I think it means they view government (Democrats at least) to be more representative of non-white, non-religious people and pursuing better justice/life for anyone other than whites.

I have not experienced this to be true but the perception is strong and I've known many whites who believed this going back as much as 30 years.

RE: The motivation of MAGA
The subjects been done to death going all the way back to the 90's as white supremacy hit on the winning message. There's a mountain of literature on the subject..but none of that stopped us from calling it "economic anxiety" - or, really, anything other than what it is and was. That's how we got here in the first place. Just as the racists have insisted that we not call them racist..and society allowed that...those people who stormed the capital also believed that they had the warrant of society.

Broadly speaking, the right wing has come to the belief that they should be allowed to run society even if people don't want them too...and we allowed it.....

Sort of a pattern. It's really not their fault. They can't help but be who they are. They're going to keep doing it because they think it's right. It's our fault for entertaining it, it's our fault for shielding them from the consequences of their actions and positions, and it's our fault for not doing a thing about it - up to and included letting a belt of 556 peel out over the insurgents on their first hare-brained attempt.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I suppose "we" includes any non-conservatives?  What are we to do about it, other than not showing up for elections?

We includes anyone who isn't motived by the narrative of white victimization, and sees the damage it's caused, and will continue to cause.

You won't like my honest answer to the other question at all.

RE: The motivation of MAGA
I know I said this before and you disagreed that this movement has the potential to split the country, literally. It could end by ending the United in States. I know it's probably still unlikely but if the movement continues to grow and gain momentum, I just don't see any way the country can bend enough to accommodate such strain. We are in very rare territory not unlike the era before the civil war. If both sides continue to command a near even political split, then where does this end?

RE: The motivation of MAGA
Isn' t making assumptions about a group of people the very definition of racism?

Why is what you are doing not racist?

Sure looks that way to me.

.....

Is the KKK a bunch of racists? Well - they base their ideology upon their race being superior to another race - so you can kind of assume they are.

Same for Aryan Nation and other such groups.

MAGA will welcome anyone of any race.

They base their ideology on NATIONALISM.

This doesn' t make them better than racists - but it is a real distinction.

But you boys just keep telling yourself that " they all be racist!"...

It' ll make you feel so good about yourselves.

Just like them KKK boys.....
