Movie scenes that made you crap your pants.

RE: Movie scenes that made you crap your pants.
I can remember being really scared once at the time. Other times have been via nightmares (such as The Exorcist)

I was about 8. There was jump shock to this bloke dead with his eyes open. Had never seen that before. Scared me half to death. Thank goodness for the Charlie Chaplin afterwards. It was The Kid, so of course I cried.

This was in 1955, at "The Kapunda Institute", in a small country town in which we lived in at the time. They showed movies every Saturday night . Dad would take me.

I once hid under the seat at a film when I thought something was going to happen to Lassie. Probably about 35 and half at the time.

It took my mom about an hour to calm me down.

My two youngest sons were traumatized by the "Titanic" movie when they were young. I indeed did not enjoy seeing the frozen dead floating in the water, but that wasn't a crap-my-pants-worthy scene.

A truly scary scene for me was at a matinee at the "local" theater, presenting, "Head of the Gorgon". When her head was cut off, I had a fear that I would be stiff as well...and not in a way I would enjoy.

Perhaps a bit off topic:

Do you think that violence in films/TV/Video games desensitises children specifically, and people generally?

I think they do. The only evidence  I  can give is the fact that over a long period I began to watch and enjoy forensic crime shows, including the ones with graphic imagery of bodies having an autopsy. EG NCIS

I’m usually desensitized to horror, and watching a lot of it (plus getting watching real footage of actual atrocities) is probably a good part of it. If you’ve seen enough footage of actual deaths, seeing a slasher killer slaughter some random teens who are drinking, screwing, taking drugs, or saying they’ll be right back loses its mystique.

The most recent movie I can remember legit scaring me was Antichrist. Why? Well, watching Charlotte Gainsbourg smash Willem Dafoe’s bollocks and then jacking him off till he comes blood and then topping it off by cutting off her own clit is probably a good reason. Maybe Human Centipede, but the sequels turning into miserable pieces of shit (to the point where the last one is the only So bad It’s Horrible film on TVtropes I’ve point-blank refused to include into the Deep Hurting Project), plus South Park mocking it, have significantly dulled the horror.

Also, more recently, I just discovered Uzumaki and I have to ask: when you hear the phrase “vampire babies”, what comes to mind? Whatever images you’ve conjured in your head, Junji Ito’s made something hundreds of times more disturbing. It’s unsettled even me.

Yes. Repeated viewing of violence desensitizes people, imo. I view those sorts of shows with disgust over the dehumanization of the deceased. I DO NOT enjoy forensic programming. I went into physics instead of medicine. My main revulsion was to the sight of blood. I did consider a career in medicine, but my aversion to blood (plus, my family being poor as piss on a plate) pretty much precluded that.

In humanities class, we discussed that desensitization. Back when the original Frankenstein film was created and viewed in the theater, people watched it in horror. Today, people watching that film tend to laugh at it.

Fascinating.

Just thought of a film which horrified me as an adult; The Passion Of The Christ. Have never been able to watch it all.  Truly seems sadistic to the point of pornography to me. The only thing which gave me some concern was the responses of some believers. They thought it was just fucking dandy.

Haven't see Antichrist. Thanks for the review, can't say I find it appealing.

RE: Movie scenes that made you crap your pants.
For those of us interested in legit horrifying films, there's this little thing called The Disturbing Movie Iceberg. (Note: no graphic content is in the video, just descriptions and [mostly in the earlier tiers] posters. Regardless, viewer discretion is fucking mandatory)

And bear in mind: the most disturbing films you've ever seen would probably be on Tier 3. There's a total of 8. By Tier 6, it's a crapshoot whether or not there's even a narrative; Tier 7 is basically "Two Girls One Cup", but worse; and everything on Tier 8 is basically just a collection of shit LiveLeak would have been uneasy hosting (apparently, some are even rumoured to have alternate cuts with outright illegal content).
