So you were in the path of that outbreak?

Yes, as you can tell Jehanne's about 3 hours to the east.

Looks like it's heading from Jehanne up to where I grew up. Sure hope everyone stays safe.

UGH - at least from what I saw on radar, it's a thin band of storms moving to the NE.

Oops, closer to 4 hours. Been there a couple of times for work. We know a terv lady there, took her a rescue that was being shuttled cross country.

It just passed. My home got spared; 5 to 7 miles to the north things got pretty nasty.

Damn!

Quite a few months ago, my county had a tornado about a half mile away from me, killed 3 people. Certainly not as massive. But I can say because of climate change. That storm scared me a shitload more than the several hurricanes I have been through. None of the hurricanes I have been through shook my house like that tornado storm did.

I really feel bad for those who suffered in this outbreak. I feel lucky. Glad you made it through.

My best friend "Hillbilly Atheist" known here, lives in Oklahoma. He sluffs it off like water off a duck's back. Probably like Hawaiians get used to lava flow. But it is quite unsettling when you are on line talking to your best friend, and you hear the tornado warning going off in the background and suddenly he goes, "GOTTA GO, TORNADO WARNING". Then you spend all night wondering if he is still alive.

I love nature, but nature can also fucking suck. Tornados SUCK!

Japan is famous for earthquakes. Every time they have one, I PM my x wife if she is ok, not knowing that the quake was nowhere near her. Sometimes my other friend from Pakistan hears about a weather event in America, he asks me if I am ok, and of course, he is not familiar with our topography, but it is nice that he is concerned.

It was a very weird day.
  • First-ever tornado recorded in December in Minnesota.
  • Latest tornado ever recorded in the season. (Previously Nov. 16.)
  • First-ever severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings in Minnesota in December.
  • 58 degrees, record high for Dec. 15 at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. (Previously 51 degrees in 2014.)
  • Wind gusts to 85 mph in southeast Minnesota.

It's cold this morning, 28F. Big change from the 77F yesterday. Haven't ventured out yet but I'm seeing some roof shingle pieces in the back yard. I'll check when it warms up later but we may not have come thru unscathed.

Edit: Our first confirmed damage, the wind buckled the garage door. I got it forced open, repair man will arrive this afternoon. Wood fences are down all over the neighborhood.
