RE: The Atheist Forums Playlist
This is from an arrangement from the 1740s of Vivaldi's Four Seasons for hurdy-gurdy, bag pipes, recorder, and violin by a French composer named Chédeville.

Are there any other industrial fans here? Surely, there must be one...

I just stumbled upon this lady, and I have to say that I really dig her stuff. Apparently she's done some tracks for video games like Skyrim and Assasin's Creed III, also.

These are two recordings of me I made last spring. Not a real harpsichord but I use harpsichord technique.

First piece is set of variations on secular song about the god Mars by a 17th century composer named Sweelinck

This is a strange piece by a late 16th century composer named Gesualdo. It's similar to a toccata so the rhythm is meant to be taken fairly free. It has a lot of unprepared accented dissonance and chromaticism which was unusual for the time. Gesualdo is also famous for gruesomely murdering his wife and his wife's lover.

Under the Stars - The Lion King soundtrack
Love the way it builds from the melancholy beginning to the powerful, dramatic ending.
(This is the soundtrack remix, not the score as it "appeared" in the movie)

Up is Down - Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End soundtrack
Love the syncopation and the momentum of this song.

Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2
A classic. I love the contrasts in this song, how it goes from haunting to light and airy, from dark to a psychotic, circus explosion, which I suppose is dark in its own way. Plus, you can't find a better song for Donald and Daffy to play dueling pianos to. Smile

We Are the World 25 for Haiti
Thought it was an interesting revamp of the classic and I actually like the rapping breakdown (that's kind of the best part for me).

But, more importantly, it was the first time I had ever seen the creature known as The Beiber. I remember it clearly. The song began and this cherubic face emerged on my television (1:30 in the video) and I thought to myself, "Who is that girl??" Big Grin

And besides the one throw-away remark about us being god's family I like the sentiment of the song, that we're in charge of saving our own lives and that the world has to come together to help each other because we can't wait around for someone else to do it.

Black or White - Michael Jackson
Say what you want about Michael, but he was a bit of a musical genius. His Dangerous Album was the first one I ever had that wasn't an album or artist that my parents regularly listened to or liked. He was formative to my childhood and taught me things like that you shouldn't judge someone because of the color of their skin, that we need to take care of the planet, that if you want to change something you need to start with yourself and that zombies are real. The important things. Wink Shades

Plus, I always really wanted to dance like him. That's why I did this video and not the actual full song.
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.

Me, but I grew up more on the electro-industrial/EBM side of the spectrum. Wink

With that, one of my favorite bands as a kid, and it was awhile before I learned this song was aimed at the evils of "the church"...

Awesome. I've never really heard a good definition of what the different sub-genres entail, but I've always considered there to be a spectrum with Ministry on one end and Front 242 on the other. I tend to enjoy mine somewhere in the middle.

One of the great side-benefits of liking industrial is that much of it is anti-religion.

I never got introduced to Nitzer Ebb when they were releasing music. I haven't really heard much of them as I haven't gotten into the back catalog of all the industrial I missed. I'll give them a look. If you've got any other suggestions, I've been trying to find some new stuff to get into.

Right now I'm really waiting for the new NIN album...

And I found these guys, but this album(Hell, my name is...) seems to be the only one worth listening to, in my opinion...

I've also been into Trent Reznor's other project How to Destroy Angels...

New suggestions are kinda hard for me, I haven't really been keeping up with what the kids are listening to in the industrial genre as much as I'd like. Tongue
I found more of it pushes the industrial metal/rock genre more than the electronic side. Which is OK in doses, but I'd rather have a bank of machines and computers on stage than guitars.

But, if I were to make a list, it would have, like you mentioned, Front 242, Frontline Assembly, KMFDM, Funker Vogt, Wumpscut... I'd have to think longer for more.

Some like NIN, Rammstein, and Marilyn Manson swing in and out of favor with me, depending on how heavy into the metal side they dive.
