and japan, in an blaze of selflessness decided it should act as an warning to other of what happens when a developed society rejects multiculturalism, has put itself on track to losing half of its popukation by the end of this century, and making sure it’s dwindling number of young working age japanese will be supporting three post retirement geezers,  so any vestige of economic vitality japan still has in the year 2100 will drain away as the few young productive worker it has left decided cultural contribution not withstanding, china and india offer more economic opportunities with less overhead?

seriously, all major western countries are facing demographic death, except france, thanks to immigration from north africa, and the US, thanks to immigration from the rest of the world, but primarily latin america.

rather than “cultural contribution”, nativists of your ilk is really accelerating the progress of the western world towards irrelevancy through demographic death, and the progress of western culture towards the status of an interesting, maybe even lemented, historic curiosity.

Japan is going all in on robotics so they don't have to import Korean labor. Risky, and they could have the Koreans right now.

that’s fine, so long as it makes economic sense to do it with robots rather than people.   but there will be a cost to doing it with robots rather than people when people works better.   the young japanese of the future will be paying the price of not having immigrant community of koreans to help them should the added cost.

so the net effect is because japan refuse to import koreans, eventually the remaining young japanese of working age will have increased incentive to leave japan to find opportunities elsewhere that are made more plentiful precisely because in those other societies an unnecessary cost of nativism does not burden the economy.

so, those who seek to protect their culture from foreigners are by excluding foreign people from seeking economic opportunities in their society is, in the long run, accelerating the death of their culture and bring nearer the date when their own best and brightest and most enterprising would desert the the culture of their birth and become economic migrants in other societies.

those who think western societies are the best, and should exclude people from other societies who come to seek economic opportunities, are bringing in closer the date when the best, brightest, and most enterprising young people or western culture will leave western culture and seek their economic futures by becoming economic migrants in china, india, or further down the line, even in africa.

Well if you're in a western country you don't even need to travel. These days, the world comes to you. They call it a cultural melting pot. More like a cultural mess.

If only this were true. My country would have to come to me and I live there! Hell, if only my street could come to me. I'm not able to travel without help due to a disability. Let alone my local area or my country.

The incentive is already there in some industries.  A willingness to relocate to se asia is an advantage if you're looking for a white collar position in manufacturing (sales, I've heard, too).  That'll dry up if we make ourselves insufferable as our overall share of the global market declines in the face of increased productivity elsewhere.
