A technicality is messed up paperwork, violating someone's constitutional rights is not a simple "technicality" it's an illegal act.

Gotta go with Huggy on this one. What the prosecution did in the Cosby case was a helluva lot more egregious than ‘a legal technicality’.

Doesn’t mean Cosby’s not a rapist piece of human filth, though.

Ironically, deepend didn't win friends with this topic.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

That’s not true. When a prosecutor makes a binding decision not to prosecute you for a crime and then prosecutes you anyway, it’s hardly a technicality. It’s a foundational miscarriage of justice and a violation of your legal rights.

Nor was it the case that the huggster foresaw that.  He believed stupid shit entirely of it's time and his prognostications were wrong. Showed up later, crowing about being right, in spite of that. He's an asshole, and may as well don a hood himself.

Accept the lawyer was in no way bound by that promise as dissenting judge  Thomas Saylor pointed out and even though he was outvoted I say his opinion is more rational and better argued than the rest so I still say he got off on a technicality.

Really? You think Saylor’s dissenting opinion that suggest Cosby should have been subjected to double jeopardy is the more rational opinion?

Accept he argues it's not double jeopardy by implication ( after all the lawyer can't be bound to a promise he never actually made)

Quote:I respectfully disagree with the majority’s determination that the press release issued by former District Attorney Bruce Castor contained an unconditional promise that the Commonwealth would not prosecute Appellant in perpetuity.
