And yet two years ago ye were ruled by a party who wanted shut of it. That's why the US is flaky, one of your two choices for government is against everything that made the country powerful.

OFC, but that's domestic. I think our 20 year war in the middle east shows that even under misrule we can be counted on to pull triggers. Granted, the last few years have been particularly out of character for us - the notion that trump would have yanked us out of nato, for example. While it's a disturbing thought, there's little chance that the great man would have accomplished it. All his best people would have gone about it in the least likely way to succeed, with the maximum amount of illegality.

On the domestic note. I'd say both of our two choices for government are against everything that made the country powerful. Institutions can resist change for a time - but IDK how much longer we can be counted on to be the indispensable nation. A future where the us loses that is one where it's more or less the equal of other nato partners at present..and if that's a problem...well, there was trumps poorly framed argument, after all.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I can’t help but be reminded of the opposing systems of alliances that formed before WWI. On one side we have Russia, China, North Korea and maybe India. On the other side, we have Europe, America and South Korea. I don’t want to see how this conflict turns out.
