The word "Hitler" is so easily thrown around these days. Putin is a ruthless autocrat, but he's no Hitler. Hitler planned the industrial genocide of people, just because they were born into a certain group of people. Jews, or Sinti and Roma. Putin is a war criminal, but so far, there are no indications of taking the same path.
Hitler was a singularity. Not because of the numbers that fell victim to his regime. But because, his regime put all the technological and logistical ressources of an industrial country to work towards genocide.
It's sad, that a Holocaust survivor died, but they're just one in thousands, who had to die in a needless war so far.
Um this minor distinction does not matter to me. The legacy of Stalin is the Soviet Union the KGB taught Putin to be ruthless. And to say the attacks on civilians in Ukraine wasn't planned is absurd. Putin has made it clear that he is purging Ukraine of any resistance and murdering innocent civilians as a default.
No, her death is a very strong reminder that you cannot look away, you have to remember, you have to stand up to monsters.
