Job
RE: Job
Above men and beneath contempt, apparently.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

The book of Enoch does shed some light on heaven as well as the afterlife, I'm not sure but I think that before Jesus died on the cross those who were counted as righteous before God got to enter a lower-layer of heaven that acted as a waiting room until Jesus opened the gates for all who would accept him. This is more or less just a theory I have because for the most part our Biblical image of the afterlife is murky at best.

My point is simple though, if we're judging this story through the lense of the religion in which it is based then when God decides to kill a life he helped to create their soul is under his authority. He will decide their final resting place. Also, God is above men, the lesson of Job is not that we should try to be like the God whose ways are far above ours, but instead that we should be like Job and keep our morals and our faith even during times of harsh unjust suffering.

Jesus is our ultimate example of how a man should act here on Earth.

I think I've found a closet masochist.

I mean, it's like they never hit you in the mouth at all, right?

So eternal paradise is being compared to a tootsie pop? Would if Johnny Depp wanted to punch you in the face and then give you a private Island? I don't know about you but I would be willing to endure that brief amount of suffering in exchange for such a rich reward.

Follow up question, have you ever been to the gym?

What if Johnny Depp punched you in the mouth, kicked you in the balls, shot you in both knees, broke your arms, curb stomped you, arranged for you to be savaged by a pack of wild dogs…

…and it turned out that there was no such island?

Does it really matter what the bribe is?  Johnny Depp could punch me in the face and give me a private island..but giving me a private island doesn't change the fact that he punched me in the face.  Earlier you told us that we should stick to our morals when we suffer unjustly. Unless your moral is "i really want shit" you appear to have abandoned that notion.

Follow up answer..do you even lift, bro?

Couldn't I just depend on myself and talents, then obtain an island on my own? My suffering (if any) would be my own choice, along with the island.

What if Johnny Depp murdered your children and promised you a private island after? Would you be willing to endure that brief amount of suffering for such a rich reward, even if you knew in your heart Johny Depp really would give you that island?
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

I'm trying to figure out how your theology works.

Suffering -> Reward?  So suffering is a requirement for everlasting life?

Or are you saying that suffering is inconsequential - a trifle compared to everlasting paradise.  Basically suffering doesn't matter.

Both views are morally and theologically unsound.  The first is a sadistic deity, and the second is an amoral deity.
