As I look at the photo in my OP, it seems to me like a tacit admission of atheistic materialism, an implicit acknowledgement that the punishment of Frank Atwood ended just after 10 AM local time yesterday morning. After all, why the need to "advertise" the existence of some "hell"?

It's the weirdest thing, we've been killing murderers forever, and in all that time it's never seemed to stop murders. Maybe this time!
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Gee... Putting murderers in prison doesn' t keep them from murdering either....

Might as well just legalize it....

Murder is wrong, whether by the individual or the state. Such never improves the human condition.

Gunlogic, right? Cant be anything between killing murderers and legalization - can't even imagine what that might be - so, pick one or the other....i guess.

Now the Russian puppet state is going to start executing individuals:

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/sep...022-06-09/

They will say that they are terrorists, putting them in the same category as child murderers.

The death penalty is not worth it, and the United States needs to abolish it.

I could support the death penalty from a purely pragmatic angle, if executing one guilty life inspired 10 murderers not to kill then I suppose it would be a worthwhile trade. I've never bothered much with the statistics so I'll leave that for someone else to weigh.

Aside from that I think that killing someone for a crime that they committed more than a decade ago is just plain wrong. If you want to chop someone's head off so badly then why don't we make the accuser hold the axe? Honestly, we want to kill but also be perfectly sanitary and make it as painless as possible, well which is it? Do you want righteous avengement or life-long suffering?

I have some misgivings about he death penalty except in the cases where there is no doubt the person committed the murder(s).

As for if the death penalty will stop others from committing murder...who knows...but it will stop the person executed from murdering anyone else.

People tend not to learn from the behavior of others. If they did, the prisons wouldn't be full to overflowing.
