You know, with what is happening in the US House of Representatives with finding a speaker, I think they are just trying to delay certain bills from being made or passed. They cannot do it forever, of course, but this must be some sort of tactic to avoid getting those bills made.

Also, the Republican party is known to have many sexist and racist people, yet there are women and people of other color than whites who are part of the republican party. With the stupid things the republican party has done, it feels like they are trying to drag such people into the party to do stupid things to make them look bad, while not claiming direct or indirect responsibility of any kind for how women and people of other color make themselves look bad after the white, male republicans get such people to join their party. Sure, such people that are not white or male republicans may join willingly, but I think they have been lied to by such people (even if they never met the politicians themselves, just listening to them on TV) or they don't know what they are getting themselves into.

I don't mean to be racist or sexist, myself, and I do realize this is just a mere thought. However, I do think women and people of color other than whites are being taken advantage of and used by the male, white republicans (whether they know it or not) just to make themselves or those like themselves look bad or worse than they really are, if not in a direct way.

I see. If that applies to what I said, maybe what I said does ignore Hanlon's razor and there is a reasonable explanation. I know there are other reasons for joining the republican party, but I just find it hard to see a good, alternative reason for most things that happen in the republican party itself.

I just still think they are being taken advantage of, and being used to make those like them look bad by the republican party. I think the non-white, non-male republicans are being used here.

I wasn't correcting you, just adding my own views too. I do think that they are being used -- but I also think they are complicit in it. Hence my comment about selling their souls.

All republicans backed Johnson, finally showing unity after three weeks of bickering. They found their Trump minion.

The guy is hard right, a Jim Jordan wannabe, a Christo-fascist. Seems perfect for today's GOP.

The NYT is having some fun with it:

"Mr. Johnson’s hallmark in Congress has been combining his hard-line views with a gentle style. He emerged at a moment when members of the conference were worn down and ready to accept someone who they did not view as an obvious choice. Instead, he passed a lowered bar: They view him as someone sufficiently conservative and who they do not personally despise."
