Why Is Mike Johnson Flying a Christian Nationalist Flag Outside His Office?
House Speaker Mike Johnson has three flags hanging outside his office: the American flag, the Louisiana state flag, and a flag representing a movement that wants to turn the United States into a religious Christian nation.
The flag is white with a green evergreen tree in the middle and the phrase “An Appeal to Heaven” at the top.
The flag was originally used as a banner during the Revolutionary War, but over the past decade, it has been embraced by a sect of Christianity called the New Apostolic Reformation, or NAR. A central tenet of NAR’s belief system is that it is God’s will for Christians to take control of all aspects of U.S. society—including education, arts and entertainment, the media, and businesses—to create a religious nation.
The NAR fully embraced Donald Trump when he announced he was running for office, endorsing him early on and helping endear him to other Christian movements. As a result, the Appeal to Heaven flag has become popular among Trump supporters.
The flag was also everywhere at the January 6 insurrection. Rolling Stone estimated that there may have been hundreds of Appeal to Heaven flags throughout the mob.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

GOP operative found guilty of funneling Russian money to Donald Trump
A Republican political strategist was convicted of illegally helping a Russian businessman contribute to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016.
Jesse Benton, 44, was pardoned by Trump in 2020 for a different campaign finance crime, months before he was indicted again on six counts related to facilitating an illegal foreign campaign donation. He was found guilty Thursday on all six counts.
The evidence at trial showed that Benton bought a $25,000 ticket to a September 2016 Republican National Committee (RNC) event on behalf of Roman Vasilenko, a Russian naval officer turned multilevel marketer. (Vasilenko is under investigation in Russia for allegedly running a pyramid scheme, according to the Kommersant newspaper; he could not be reached for comment.) The donation got Vasilenko a picture with Trump and entrance to a “business roundtable” with the future president.
Vasilenko connected with Benton through Doug Wead, an evangelical ally of the Bush family who was also involved in multilevel marketing. Vasilenko sent $100,000 to Benton, who was working for a pro-Trump super PAC at the time, supposedly for consulting services. Benton subsequently donated $25,000 to the RNC by credit card to cover the ticket.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) suggested the NSA could be targeting people like him for being white.
His being white is the only reason for the NSA tracking him? Given that there were 231.9 million white people in the US in 2020, the NSA must have their work cut out for them. Then again, maybe just spying on people randomly is probably just how they roll.

If the NSA (or any other professional intelligence gathering agency) was actually spying on him, he likely wouldn't be aware of it til the burly guys with the warrant kicked in his front door.

I also just found out about a somewhat similar incident: one prominent Republican Congressman recently heavily implied that another House Republican (specifically Josh Smith) was a closeted gay man. That Republican Congressman who outed the other? None other than Matt Gaetz.
Yes, the same person who's been implicated in sex trafficking and sex with minors still thinks he has the sort of moral high ground to make this sort of shit work. Then again, this is the Republican electorate we're talking about.
Yeah, he's preaching to the demographic that thinks that raping children is a-ok as long as they're girls and "asking for it".

A “Manifesto of Hate”: Marjorie Taylor Greene Incensed as Major Retailer Rejects Her Book for Stocking
Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican, has criticized Hudson Booksellers for deciding not to carry her “Tell-All” in their stores. Hudson’s decision marks another instance where the bookseller has declined to stock an “America First” book. Donald Trump Jr., co-owner of the Publishing Company that labeled MTG as “the most dangerous woman in Washington” on their website, expressed his concern on Twitter, decrying the situation as an act of “Censorship.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene says she was scared on Jan 6 because she believes it was Antifa and Black Lives Matter, not Trump supporters, who were storming the Capitol, and Trump junior agrees:
But why would Antifa try to stop the certification of the President-elect Biden in favor of the orange scumbag?
