teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Brittney Griner is working on a memoir about her nearly 10 months behind bars in Russia, the basketball star announced on Tuesday. She hopes the book, she said, will help raise awareness about other Americans who have been wrongfully detained abroad.

But she is a lesbian in a women's prison, so how bad could it have been?

The thing is - I assume she was guilty. She was given a wrongful sentence, and likely her trial was a sham, but that's not the same as saying she wasn't guilty of the crime.

Admitted to possession, iirc. Lucky to be out and away so soon, and now she's going to write a book to capitalize on the experience.

Funny stuff. Sexual assault in prison is funny because she’s gay. Har har har de har har.

NASA's Curiosity rover has discovered rocks on Mars that closely resemble dragon bones

From the backbone of a fish to traffic light-looking structures, one may think we’ve seen it all. But now the internet is buzzing about newly released images form Curiosity’s mast camera that closely resemeble a dragon-like structure that many are calling “dragon bones.”

“In 20 years of studying Mars, that’s the most bizarre rock I have ever seen,” said Nathalie Cabrol, prominent Astrobiologist, and TED speaker. She explains that the structure gained its unique ripples “after lots of erosion,” presumably from wind.

Meanwhile, under the seem tweet, many users shared commonalities with the science fiction film Dune.

How can they ‘closely resemble dragon bones’ when dragon bones don’t exist? In seems as though in order for something to closely resemble something else, you’d need to have a sample of the something else for comparison.

But it’s better than you making light of women being sexually assaulted in prison, I suppose.
