Paul's visions in DUNE.

Paul's visions in DUNE.
Been getting questions about the "flashbacks" he's been having. They actually alternate outcomes of major events. When he fights Jamis the Old Reverend Mother (ORM) speaks to him, telling him "Paul Atreides must die for the Kwisatz Haderach to rise!" In the sequel they might explain this. When Jamis is dehydrated Paul contributes his honorific by "Jamis was my friend. He taught me that when you kill someone you kill yourself."

The Lisan-al-gaib can see EVERY possible outcome of an action. Most are trivial. Some are galaxy-spanning. We see just a few of these, the ones that "rise to the top" so to speak.

Just writing these down here to have handy for other forums.

Another way to explain it would be to read the book.

A guy I dated years ago loved the book. He kept after me to read it, being sure I would love it as much as he did. I hadn't read anything so painful since I had assigned reading in religion classes in high school. I can't even tell you what it was about as I purged the information almost as soon as I closed the book.

No,  No, No. You have to read the entire series.

You read the entire bible didn't you?

Based on the 'ban list' I believe there is a face dancer in you somewhere.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

It's not a burner, that's for sure. But I'd rather get enough information than not enough. Popcorn

It might take a while for them to actually get to Paul's death. In the original book, he survives to the end.

That egregious cat/rat milking from the unlamented previous movie isn't in the book either. That was just ... weird.

Maybe you should try looking for the Syfy Dune and Children of Dune miniseries. If you're not interested in reading several long books or waiting years for Denis Villeneuve to finish his adaptations of the Dune series, they have the adaptation of being about as faithful as you can reasonably expect from a low-budget basic cable miniseries. They're on YouTube, and a channel called Orodreth Artaresto has all six episodes of both series.
