Same situation here. I'd say they tolerate me, but that's not true. The god botherers in my family are ashamed in my presence. I grew up to be everything that they wanted "their men" to be....but none of their sons did.

Other than the subject of religion, we were basically a normal family struggling to get by. At one point in the late 80s, I had a full-time job and 2 part-time jobs, and worked 6 days a week for over 10 years. Sundays were the only day I could sleep in, and they were always at church until lunch time, which meant we had half a day a week for family stuff.
I helped coach our sons football and baseball teams and bathed our daughter every night until she was old enough to do it herself. My wife didn't raise our kids, we did.
Splitting/breaking up wasn't an option for either one of us, and would have fucked up our kids. So we made it work.

My idiot cousins tend to clump, a few hundred here, a few hundred there. Our family reunions list greater than 1,500 "current generation" who are eligible to attend the annual reunions. (They have to be able to trace back to the original eight families who came over from Ireland in the 1890s.

Having that many religious idiots in one spot is why I never go near it. (Well, I went once but any suggestions that it was me who tipped over sixteen crates of poisonous snakes is just fuckin' silly. (I would have dumped them all.))

I have no doubt you also raised your kids, I just wish you were more assertive about proctecting your kids from religious indoctronation. I get that you had little time with them and thanks to religion you lost years worth of a half day with them and thanks to work you lost more days and that you wanted your time with them to be fun. But at the very least you should've teach them skepticsim or be more open about your position. Atleast you've already started it now and can possibly pass it on to the grankids.
