Is atheism foolish?

Believing in an invisible man in the sky is foolish
The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.
Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!
As far I understand, atheism is just not having a live belief/ assent to the idea of a divine being(s). It would only be irrational, then, if the evidence and argumentation for theism was truly self-evident. It isn't.
I still have all my money.
Then call me a fool. I don't believe in supernatural beings of any sort. Except the sprite that steals socks from the dryer.
Atheism is foolish in that no position is necessary with respect to an incoherent concept (theism).
If atheism is necessary, then so is a-pink-sparkly-unicornism.
Every religion is true one way or another. It is true when understood metaphorically. But when it gets stuck in its own metaphors, interpreting them as facts, then you are in trouble. - Joseph Campbell

All atheism is, is NOT being convinced that the claim that a god or gods, exist. How can it be foolish to not be convinced of a claim which is not supported by demonstrable, verifiable, falsifiable evidence, and reasoned argument? The same reasons why I am unconvinced that a god or gods exist, are the same reasons why I am unconvinced that: bigfoot, ghosts, Ginn, Loch Ness monster, alien abductions, fairies, etc, etc, exist. Am I foolish for disbelieving in the existence of Ginn? You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
“The only position that leaves me with no cognitive dissonance is atheism. It is not a creed. Death is certain, replacing both the siren-song of paradise and the dread of hell. Life on earth, with all its mystery and beauty and pain, is then to be lived far more intensely: We stumble and get up, we are sad, confident, insecure, feel loneliness and joy and love. There is nothing more; but I want nothing more.” (Christopher Hitchens)
"The world is my country; all of humanity are my brethren; and to do good deeds is my religion." (Thomas Paine)
