Indeed, but it's better than sitting rotting in a cell. I wonder if their sentences are reduced for that work?
Actually, since prisoners have to work, most of them seem to prefer working in the prison rather than fight fires.

My grandfather and an uncle were/are both named Edgar. With the accent of most of the locals it sounded much more like "Egger". Grandpa was often referred to as Cap'n Egger and my uncle is commonly known as Little Egger. (family still calls him Little Egger - he'll be 70 in January.)
