Not here: I'm not saying the staff on any site don't deserve praise and appreciation, especially if the members are happy and they do a good job. But just out of the blue, a thread made to show gratitude and appreciation (and even the thread starter doesn't have a clear or specific reason given; just in general, a "thanks you guys! You do such a good job!") it feels kinda brown nosey.

They used to but had to remove it because people were being dicks and downvoting folk's story threads. And I guess management didn't see the point of keeping ratings around if you could only "like" stuff/people. Back in the 1980's I worked as a Lifeline telephone counsellor. (voluntary, part time, usually at night). The training was pretty good. One of the things really stuck: The common element of suicide is pain, often crushing emotional pain. The Person quite often doesn't really want to die. They just want the pain to end. Their pain is such that they cannot see more than one solution. |
